Chapter 81 Monday. Is it Friday yet?

Logan was very concerned for Rory. Throwing up, at this stage in pregnancy has to be stress-related. The situation with Shira, not to mention the situation with Melissa, could not be good for Rory or the baby. Logan called Paris. She suggested Benadryl and meal replacement shakes if it continued.

Logan let Rory sleep in Monday morning. He needed to talk with Mitchum. Just because he and Shira are divorced, doesn't mean he shouldn't weigh in on what needs to be done. Logan learned from Dillon that Shira going to jail was not an option s. Maybe moving her to the West Coast would work.

Logan was in the office downstairs. He left a message for Mitchum. He was trying to get some work done while waiting on Mitchum to call back. Ricky and Karson are moving back to their rooms, separately. Karson took the boys to school before meeting with her professor. Both young adults were informed of the seriousness of the situation and to be aware of their surroundings.

Logan heard Rory coming from downstairs. She came into the office with 2 cups of coffee. "One for me?" Logan asked. "If you insist, I will allow you to drink my second cup of coffee." Rory was sitting in Logan's lap. This was normal for them. The knock on the door frame made Rory jump. "Sorry," Mitchum said. Karson left me in." "No problems Dad," Logan said as Rory stood up. "I'll let you have your privacy. I just need my laptop. Logan, don't forget I have a meeting with my Sally this week." "Got it on my calendar," Logan said as Rory stopped at the door. "Open or Closed?" "Closed please," Logan said.

Mitchem sat in one of the two chairs in front of Logan's desk. "I am retired and I believe we have had more one-on-one meetings since I retired than we have the whole time I was in charge." "Well, dealing with your crazy ex-wife has become a second job for me," Logan said. He wasn't smiling. "Logan, son, what has she done this time? I have an appointment with Cynthia and a decorator at the Manor in less than an hour" ''How's that going, Dad?" "Jessi is settling in. She spent Sunday with Honor and her boys. She enjoys spending time with her nephews." Mitchum said smiling. "We would like her to come to visit with us as soon as some of this drama calms down," Logan said. "Speaking of drama, tell me what Shira has done."

Logan took a deep breath. He started from the call from Ricky Friday night and ended with Dillon stopping by the house last night. When he finished, Mitchum asked Logan, "What are you going to do? What do you want me to do. I don't think me talking to her will do any good. Short of killing her, I don't know what I can do." "Dad, killing mom is not an opinion," Logan said. "I know, just one of those fleeting thoughts." Mitchum chucked. "I'm not sure. I'm waiting on a call from Dillon. I am going to watch the interview with this Waters guy. I just know I have to protect my family. I have two young adults under my roof. I have to keep them safe as well as Rory and the boys. Right now Ricky and Karson have been made aware. They are both hyper-aware of their surroundings as well as checking in with me often. The twins have a bodyguard outside their school. I also have security riding through Stars Hollow. That was a nightmare. First getting Lorelai to agree, then that selectman Taylor. But I got it done....I am taking Rory to her meeting with her editor so I am going to stop by the New York office." Mitchum looked at Logan, "How are you getting any work done? I know I told you I would help out while you are on paternity leave, but are getting anything done?" "Dad, Frank is taking us to New York. I will make calls from the car. I will be in the office while Rory is meeting with her editor. I want this to end before the baby is born. Rory will start her book tour on the East Coast in November. With the tour and baby, I will have my hands full, not to mention the twins." "Short of talking to your mother, just tell me what to do," Mitchum said as he stood up. "Dad, you may want to talk to security. When Shira finds out you are moving back into the Manor. She is going to be livid. But she will lose her shit when she finds out Cynthia and Jessi are moving in" Mitchum nodded. "I was thinking maybe I needed to hire new help. I don't know who was loyal to Shira." "Dad, I'm not going to tell you what to do, but I have been paying salaries since the divorce. If you want loyalty, you will need to keep everyone at the same rate. If you are replacing, be careful. Loyalties change. I think you need to keep Evelyn, she has been there the longest, and I know that she has always been loyal to me. If you decide to let her go, let me know first. I will hire her myself or find her a job." Mitchum nodded as he left.
