Chapter 121 Rehearsal Supper, but no nameplate
Rory and Logan took the boys through the drive-thru at McDonald's. Logan's logic on this was no one expected them to come to McDonald's, so they could have not pre-planned to poison the food. Besides, his pregnant wife was hungry. Well, that was one of the emotions she was having right now. Since they left the 'Ole Mill' she has cried because her feelings were hurt that anyone would not include her boys. She was mad, because, as she put it, 'that bitch better step back and see who she is dealing with, pregnant or not, we will throw down.'
Logan just wanted to get her home. She needed to calm down. He threatened to take her to see Cynthia if she did not calm down. Now she is sitting in the passenger seat, eating her Big Mack. If he had to describe how she was feeling now. I would be happy.
When they got home, Rory went upstairs to get out of her dress and shoes. Logan sent the boys to their room to put on their pajamas. He went to the drink cart and fixed himself a scotch. He was afraid this was going to be a long night. When he turned from the cart, he kept hearing a buzzing noise. He looked around, then he saw Rory's clutch. He opened it. It was her phone. She had put the phone on vibrate. It was Christopher. He was debating whether to answer it or just tell Rory later that her dad called. While he was deciding it stopped. He went to put it back in her bag when it started again. He didn't think this time, he just answered.
"Hello"......we are at home......She is changing clothes.......No, she is feeling okay.......yes that is what I told Lana's aunt.......No, that is not the reason...... Yes, I will tell you......first of all, we were not invited to cocktail hour. Now, this does not bother me, but when Rory realized, you could see the hurt in her eyes. She decided to just let that go. After you showed her to our seats. We were going to move the nameplates to put Will and Chris between us. There was no name tag for Will or Chris. When she went to go find you or Lana to see if there had been a misunderstanding and we were not supposed to bring them with us, she was told that the wedding party was outside taking pictures. Our boys are a part of the wedding party. I went to go get her because she was being ambushed by some drunk sorority girl, who then proceeded to hit on me. She decided she had enough, so she asked me to take her home. On the way home, I watched her go through several emotions, hurt, angry, mad. Yes, there is a difference." Logan took a breath, then finished. "I will be glad to tell her you called. But right now, my concern is the well-being of my wife and the child she is carrying. I don't think it is a good idea for you to talk with her right now. Try in the morning before the wedding. And good luck, I sure hope you know what you are getting yourself in for."
When Christopher got off the phone he was furious. He kept telling himself that this is just a misunderstanding. But deep down he wasn't sure. Party continued. Christopher kept mingling, dancing, and drinking. The more he mingled, the more he realized he didn't know most of the people at the party. He knew the wedding party, but there were many more people at this rehearsal party than the wedding party.
Once dinner was served, the speeches began. Christopher realized Gigi, his 16-year-old daughter, would have to give her speech, welcoming Lana to the family by herself. He looked down the table, Gigi was just sitting there. She wasn't smiling, she wasn't talking. She was playing on her phone. This is not right, he thought. He stood up to go talk to Gigi, but Lana grabbed his hand to tell him something. He never got to talk with Gigi before the speeches began.
It was almost midnight and the party was still going strong. They ate, danced, drank, mingled, and took pictures. It was time to go. He looked around to find Lana, but she was nowhere in sight. He found Gigi, sitting alone on the sofa. She looked bored and sleepy. As he was approaching Gigi he saw Lana. She was dancing with a group of friends. He changed his course to go to her. "I need to talk with you," Christopher said, close to her ear. She looked at him. She could not understand what he said. Christopher made the hand motion to follow him. She did. He stepped outside. The air was cool. Lana followed. "Are you having fun tonight?" Christopher asked. Lana said she was. He leaned in to kiss her. "It's almost midnight. I am going to take Gigi home. I need my beauty rest to keep up with you tomorrow at the wedding" Christopher said smiling at her. "Okay, I will see you tomorrow. I will be the one in white, walking down the aisle." Lana said as she turned to go back inside. Christopher still had her by the hand. "Wait, I need to ask you something," Christopher said, pulling her back to him. "I talked to Logan earlier...." "Someone told me that Rory was not feeling good. Is she okay?" Lana asked. "No, I don't think so," Christopher said. "Has there been a misunderstanding about twins?" Lana looked at him. "No, I don't think so" "They were here tonight, but Rory could not find their place card. She got upset." Christopher said. "She is pregnant Chris, I'm sure it was just her hormones. I'm sure she has already forgotten about it." Lana said. Christopher smiled. "Will you tell Gigi I am bringing the car around?" Lana kissed him on the cheek and entered the building again.
