Chapter 10 The Date

Logan was on time to pick up Rory as per usual. They were in the back of his town car, with Frank driving, when Logan asked if she had a curfew? She laughed and told him no. The boys are with her dad and will drop them off with Karson at the house when they are finished visiting. Logan told her good. He had a surprise. He told her they were going to New York. He explained that he wanted to surprise her with the trip, but thought she should at least know that New York was the destination in case she needed to make other arrangements for the boys. Rory was grateful that Logan thought about the boys. It is important that Logan and the boys get along. As much as she loves Logan, this would not work if they didn't get along. She explained that to him. He told her that he understood. She told him that Billy would be face timing soon. She told him of the agreement, that they each get to meet whoever will be spending time with the boys and be a partner to the other. Logan said "sure, I hope he calls soon, I don't want this hanging over our heads all night. She said, "well I could speed it up" She got her phone and Facetimed Billy.

Billy answered. "I thought I was calling you. Wow, you look great. Logan must be taking you somewhere fancy."

Rory: "Hi, Billy. I called you because the boys are with my dad. He is dropping them off with Karson after his visit. I didn't want you to call the house and not get an answer or get Gigi or Karson."

Billy "that's fine. I will call your dad when we finish this call."

While Rory and Billy were talking, Logan asked Frank to pull off at the next available space.

Rory "Billy, Frank has pulled off the road so I'm going to introduce you and Logan then Logan is going to step out of the car to talk with you, while Frank and I discuss where we are going tonight."

Rory was smiling as she scooted over close to Logan so Billy could see his face. Rory "Billy this is Logan, Logan this is Billy. Be nice."

Logan smiled at Rory as he was opening the door and told Frank "Don't tell her all my secrets"

Rory and Frank discussed his children and Rory told her about hers. Rory had always liked Frank and Frank had great affection for Ms. Rory.

After about 10 minutes, Logan opens the door and hands, Rory, the phone. Billy said "Well, I'm going to hang up now and call the boys. Rory, I would still like to talk with Logan face to face, but for now, it is okay for you to introduce him to the boys. Have fun tonight and tomorrow. Tell the boys I love them. Bye"

Rory hung up the phone and slipped it into her purse. She smiled at Logan and "I didn't hear threats or shouting." Logan "I don't have a problem with Billy. He is your ex-husband and the father to your boys. He will be a part of my life. I am with you now. There is no turning back. Rory, I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Get that shocked expression off your face. I am not proposing.... Yet." He smirked. "I'm just trying to tell you that I'm all in. I am in for the long haul. I want to get to know your boys. I want to get to know you again. I even want to get to know Billy"

Rory just smiled and giggled. She was doing a lot of that lately. "Good, because after tomorrow, there is no turning back."

The rest of the ride to New York they discussed Honor and her family, Lane and her family, Christopher and Gigi, her mom, and Luke. Logan and Rory agreed to get all of this out before they got to New York. Logan tells Rory he had plans and discussing anybody but him and her was out of the question.

Rory could see the skylines of New York. She was admiring the view, all comfortably smuggled in Logan's arm when he had her sit up and he pulled a blindfold out of his pocket. Rory looked at him. She started to protest, then she thought better of it. Some things about Logan would never change. She just told him to please be careful with her. She didn't need a broken ankle to go along with her arm ankle. Logan raised an eyebrow. She started laughing, she said Will could not remember what it was called.

After tying the blindfold, Logan and Rory just sit back, cuddling up again as the car moves along the busy streets of New York. She told him about the SUVs that she bought today. She told him that they would have to use the Escalade Sunday because her Range Rover would not be ready until Monday and she had already told Karson she could take the Jeep to visit friends.

When the car pulled into the underground garage, Rory could tell the change. When they stopped, Frank opened the door. Logan got out and helped Rory out. He carefully guided her to the elevator. They were on the way to Logan's penthouse. Rory was smiling when they got in the elevator.

Rory "This is not a restaurant. This is your apartment building. Hope you don't plan on taking me up there and killing me. Frank knows where I am. He will tell the authorities." Logan laughed, "Nope, Frank works for me. Even if he likes you better. No, Ace, I'm not taking you to my apartment to kill you, but those reporter instincts are still sharp."

They stepped off the elevator into Logan's penthouse. Logan closed the door and kissed Rory on the lips, very gently. She felt for him and returned the kiss, not so gentle. After breaking away for air, Logan said. "Ace, I would love to continue this, but it would delay my surprise." He reached up and pulled the blindfold off. As her eyes adjusted to the light, she saw a beautiful apartment with the dining room table set for two.

"Logan, this is wonderful. I would ask how you pulled this off, but I'm sure you had help." "Yes, I did. He pulled the chair out for her and she sat down. The caterer brought the food and wine out and asked if there was anything else. Logan told him no and thanked him, telling him that he was dismissed.

After eating, Logan gathered the plates to take to the kitchen, he asked Rory if she would like dessert. She smiled and said, "Sure, what kind of dessert are you talking about." Logan, "slow it down. I am talking about blueberry cheesecake" Rory blushed. "Oh" Logan "I'll get the coffee and cheesecake; you go have a seat on the couch."

After dessert, there was a knock on the door. Logan told Rory to answer it. She opened the door to Finn, Collin, and Stephanie yelling "SURPRISE"
