Chapter 92 Rory is out of Surgery.

Logan was relieved that Rory came through the surgery. He just needed to see her. That would make him feel better. "If you will excuse me, there is a waiting room at the end of the hall. I'm going to make a few phone calls." Logan said as he headed to the door. He sat close to the door. They would bring Rory right by him. "Honor, sorry to bother you this early in the morning, just wanted you to know that Rory came through the surgery fine. We are waiting for her to be returned to the room.......This afternoon...That is what the doctor said.....I'm glad you asked. As soon as Rory is back in the room and Ricky gets to see her, he is going home to help Karson get our bedroom ready....Yes, you are the best sister in the world. I knew I could count on you. Thanks. I will call Ricky when she is released. He will come to pick us up.....Thanks again. Logan ended the call. He sat there a minute, then called Mitchum. "Dad just called to let you know that Rory just had surgery....Dad, no, she had her gallbladder removed. The baby is fine. They called and told me that she came through the surgery great and that she is awake in the recovery room. They will be bringing her to her room in a few minutes........I was on the plane headed back home. Did not know anything about it until I landed......... Rory will get to go home today. Let me get her settled. I will stay with her until she can get around well. Up and down the stairs. I will work from home. I will call you when she gets home and is settled. You, Cynthia, and Jessi can stop by. While they visit, we can talk...... Yes, I will. Thanks." He hung up the phone.

When he looked up again, he could see them bringing someone down the hall on a bed. He stood up to see if it was Rory. It was. He could see her and she could see him. He followed the bed down the hall to her room. When they stopped to clear everyone out of the room, Logan was able to catch up with them. "Hey," he said to her as he took her hand. She smiled at him. Then she saw her mom, her dad, Lana, and Ricky come out of her room. "Logan, please send everyone home." "Ace, give them a chance to see you, then I will get them to leave." She smiled back up at him.

After Rory was back in her bed, everyone went back to her room. Logan stood back so that Christopher and Lorelai could see and talk with Rory. He was going to give them about 5 minutes, then he was going to clear the room. Ricky walked over to where Logan was standing. "I saw her. She is okay, I am headed home to help Karson." Logan nodded, "I talked with Honor, she will be over there as soon as she gets the boys to school." Ricky nodded and headed out the door.

Logan let them stay for 10 minutes until Rory yawned big. "Hey," Logan said as he stepped up to the bed. "Rory needs to rest so that they will let her go home today. You are all welcome to come to the house after she gets settled to visit." Lorelai snapped her head toward Logan. Rory saw, "Mom, I will call you when I get home. You can come by and visit them. I want to be able to go home today, so I need to rest" Lorelai smiled at Rory. "Okay, sweets." She kissed her on the cheek. "I will stop by your house on my way home. I want to change your sheets and get your room ready." "Thank you, but Karson and Honor are already taking care of it. How about you get Sookie to make me some chicken noodle soup." "Sure, I'll do that," Lorelai said with a smile plastered on her face. "I will see you this afternoon." She said as she turned to leave, making sure Logan saw her face.

"Kiddo, we are going to go. I am glad you are feeling better." Christopher said as he bent down to kiss her on the cheek. Lana squeezed her hand. "You gave us quite a scare." She said, smiling at Rory. "Sorry about that," Rory said.

When everyone was gone, Logan sat on the side of the bed. "Tell me the truth, how are you feeling?" "I'm sore. But the doctor said I would be. Nurse Nancy told me that Dr. Burke will come by around 1 to check on me. If everything looks good he will sign off for my release. Then we have to wait on Dr. Boyett to sign off." "Okay, while we wait, how about you go to sleep, so you can rest," Logan said and he ran his hands through her hair.

Logan watched her sleep for the longest time. Several nurses came in to check her vitals. Rory was just waking up when Dr. Burke entered. His eyes went straight to Logan who was working on his laptop in the recliner. "Mr. Huntzburger," Dr. Burke said as he was walking toward Logan. Logan closed his laptop and moved the stand he was using for a desk. He stood up and shook his hand. "Dr. Burke, I am told my wife was a champ in the operating room." "Yes, She was. Everything turned out great." He turned to look at Rory. Nurse Nancy was helping her sit up in the bed. "Let me take a look, I believe my handy work will not leave a scar. As soon as this baby is born, she will be back in a bikini in no time." He smiled at Rory. "The nurse has your release papers. I would like to see you back in my office Wednesday. I believe the nurse has your appointment card." He headed for the door and turned around. "Mr. Huntzburger, it was a pleasure to meet you," He said as he walked out the door.

Logan looked at Rory. She was staring at him. "What? I didn't say anything to him." Logan said. Nurse Nancy looked up from changing Rory's bandages. "Are you talking about how different Dr. Burke was compared to this morning?" Rory nodded her head. Nurse Nancy stopped what she was doing and went to the door to make sure it was closed. "Word got back to the Hospital Administrator Mr. Ingram that Mrs. Logan Huntzburger or her proper name Mrs. Lorelai Gilmore Hayden Huntzburger was in the hospital. I knew your great Grandma Lorelai. She and my older sister went to school together in England. Dr. Burke was at the nurse's station when Mr. Ingram approached, wanting to know which room Mrs. Logan Huntzburger is in.? Dr. Burke was talking with one of his OR nurses, I believe he was getting her to check to make sure you had help when you returned home. For some reason, he didn't believe you. Well," She looked back at the door. "I told him that Mrs. Rory Gilmore Hayden Huntzburger was in room 251. He turned to me and said, 'Her grandfathers were very dear friends of mine. Straub and Richard both were so proud of her. She lost Straub while she was still in college, but she lost Richard just a few years ago. Her twins were still little. But I hear she married Logan and they are expecting a little one. I was at her graduation party when he proposed the first time. My wife said that everyone at the DAR was disappointed that she turned him down.' Well Let me tell you, Dr. Burke almost broke his neck trying to stretch to hear what Mr. Ingram was saying to me. When he left, Dr. Burke asked me what he was talking about." His OR nurse was trying her best not to laugh. Dr. Burke has always been snobbish. To think he might have turned his nose up at a Gilmore, Hayden, and a Huntzburger, I guess he decided he needed to be nicer." Rory was holding her bandage with her hand. She was trying not to laugh, but that was funny. Logan just shook his head. "People should be treated with respect, regardless of their status in life."
