Chapter 132 Nantucket

Sunday morning, Rory woke just like any other morning at the Vineyard. Except for this morning, she couldn't move. Logan had his arm wrapped around her. She smiled. She was waking up with Logan still in the bed. She turned her head to see Logan watching her. "How long have you been awake"? She asked. "Not long, just watching my wife sleep." "I have wanted to wake up in your arms this whole vacation. You know this won't be happening very much after baby Em is born, Right?" "Yeah, and I am sorry that I have been missing from the bed in the mornings. Just trying to give you a break." Logan said as he pulled her close, kissing her belly and moving down.

Logan and Rory were getting ready to leave for Nantucket. It took a little convincing to get the twins to come with them. They wanted to stay and play in the pool. Nana didn't have a pool. The kicker was the yacht. They like going on the yacht.

The nearest pier is half a mile from 'The Sandcastle'. When they got off the yacht, a 4 seat side by side was waiting for them. The boys were excited. When they got to the house, Lorelai and Ashleigh were waiting on them. "Hey, my babies," Lorelai said as she hugged the boys. Ashleigh was a little shy at first, but it didn't take her long to warm up to the boys.

Luke and Jamie were just pulling up on Lorelai's jeep. When Ashleigh saw her daddy, she started talking a mile a minute telling him about Will and Chris. The twins didn't know what she was saying, they could not understand her. She didn't care, she was telling her dad all about them.

After lunch, Jamie and Luke took the kids riding on the side-by-side. While they were out riding, Lorelai and Rory were sitting under the awning on the back deck. Rory wanted to talk with her about her leaving town before the shower and Christopher's wedding, but she didn't want to start a fight.

Logan stepped out on the deck, "Hey, Lorelai, Do you know what Luke has planned for supper?" Lorelai looked at Logan. "No, he usually doesn't tell me unless I asked for something specific. Why?" Logan smiled. "I was thinking if he hasn't already planned something, we could do lobsters. I could go to the market by the pier and grab some. That is if everyone likes lobster. I'll pick up chicken strips for the kids. Maybe some shrimp for those that don't like lobster." Logan said. "Call him and ask?" Lorelai said to Logan. "You can't have shellfish while you are pregnant," Lorelai said to Rory. Rory smiles, "Yes I can. According to the Mayo Clinic, it is good to eat shellfish while pregnant, in moderation, and prepared right. Besides, my doctor said I could. So did Paris." Rory said with a laugh. Logan walked off talking with Luke on the phone. When he returned, he told the girls he was taking the Jeep to go to the fish market. He also said that they would be back in a few minutes.

While Logan was gone and April was inside baking different desserts to take with them tomorrow to the 4th of July celebration. "Mom, I want to talk to you about something, but I do not want to argue with you," Rory said. Before she could continue, Lorelai took a deep breath and said. "I'm sure you want to talk to me about missing your shower." Rory nodded her head. "Well, let me start,'' Lorelai said. "The reason I missed your shower and Christopher's wedding is I was afraid I would ruin both events". "Mom, you are happily married. Why would you want to begrudge dad the same thing? Remind me to go back to Dad's marriage later. Anyway, my shower, did you think that Lana would be there? Did you think you couldn't hold your tongue long enough to be there for your daughter?" Rory was getting upset. She knows she needs to calm down. This is one of the last things Cynthia said to her. She stood up and walked to the edge of the deck. "Rory, I'm sorry. I was still trying to get my meds regulated. I didn't want to push a wedge between us. Further, then it already was. I was jealous of Cynthia. I was jealous of Lana. I'm sorry. I know that there is something wrong with me. My doctor wants me to see a therapist. At least until we can get my meds right." Lorelai was crying. Rory had tears in her eyes. "Mom, you have got to talk to me about this stuff. I'm not saying I will understand, but at least I won't think you have abandoned me." "Oh, Rory, I would never abandon you." "Mom, I have different priorities, as do you. We are not just the Gilmore Girls, that depend only on each other. You have Luke. I have Logan." Rory turned around and was leaning on the rail of the deck. "Mom, I love you. I am so thankful for what you sacrificed for me to be able to have the life I had as a child. I am thankful you created the life we had in Stars Hollow. I would not be the person I am today if you had not." Rory took a deep breath. "Mom, you are not the most important person in my life anymore. I know that you know that. I love you and will always need you, but you have got to let go of the feeling of inadequacy. Just because you are not my priority, doesn't mean I won't come if you need me." Rory said, looking at her mom. Lorelai stood up and walked toward Rory. She hugged her and held on for a long time. "Rory, I promise I will try to talk to you more about how I feel, I will try to step back and let you have Logan as your person." She smiled. "Just be patient with me." Rory nodded.

They were still standing there hugging each other with the side by side pulled up to the deck. "Nana, Nana" All three of her grandchildren were calling her. "Look what Poppy and Uncle Amie found," Will said, trying to get the big piece of driftwood off the back of the side by side. Chris was helping. Nana smiled at her babies. "Will still has trouble with his J's, he calls Jessi essi." Rory said, laughing at the boys trying to remove the big piece of driftwood.

Logan returned with everything to cook. He, Luke, and Jamie all were on the deck cooking the lobsters and shrimp. They were watching the boys play in the yard. Every Once in a while, one of them would throw a frisbee with them. Rory was inside with Lorelai and April. She was watching April put together a salad. Lorelai was getting the applesauce out of the fridge along with the baby carrots for the kids. Rory was eating the baby carrots and apple sauce. Lorelai had to move them from in front of her.

The boys came in loudly, which in turn woke Ashleigh from her nap. Ashleigh started crying and both boys put their hands on their ears. Of courts that made them talk even louder. "Poppy said to get washed up, Lobster is ready" Chris shouted. "Daddy said he bought chicken strips for us. I don't like fish," Will said loudly.

Lorelai returned to the dining room with Ashleigh. She had changed her diaper and washed her face. When she saw the boys she wanted down. Lorelai put her down and took the boys to the bathroom to wash their hands.

Supper was a big hit. Everyone enjoyed it. They were finished and cleaned up before dark. Rory didn't want to be on the yacht after sunset. Everyone said their goodbyes and will see you tomorrow. It was agreed that they would take the ferry over to Martha's Vineyard and someone would take them back on the yacht.
