Chapter 133 Happy 4th of July

Logan and Rory were both up early Monday morning. They were expecting guests. Lane and her family will be arriving on the ferry. Cynthia was in the kitchen with Honor, Jessi, Gigi, and Karson. They looked like they had everything under control. The plan was to have picnic food throughout the day. She walked onto the deck to see Logan, Ricky, and Josh setting up the volleyball net on the beach. Today will be a great day.

By 10:00 Lane and her family arrived along with Lorelai and her crew. April didn't have to worry about Ashleigh. Honor took her from Jamie's as soon as they got there. Rory was floating in the pool. It was hot, the breeze was blowing but it was blowing hot air. Rory decided to take up camp in the pool. Cynthia has everything under control.

Logan sat on the side of the pool with his feet in the water. Rory was holding on to his feet. They were talking. "I have to get serious about planning the twins' birthday party," Rory said. "Just let me know what you need me to do. I'm sure Cynthia or Lorelai will be happy to help" Logan said.

Rory persuaded Logan to get in the pool with her. The kids were not too far behind. Rory saw Christopher come in but didn't see Lana. Mitchum and Christopher were in the living room talking. She knew she had to talk to her dad about Lana. She had been putting it off, but after talking to her mother yesterday she had to say something. " Logan, help me out of the pool, please. I need to talk with daddy. The office, okay?" Logan nodded as he swam to the steps to help Rory out.

Christopher followed Rory to the office to talk. When they got situated Rory asked "where is your wife? You have been to visit numerous times this week without her. Does she have a problem with me? Or my children?" Christopher took a deep breath. "I don't know what to tell you. She invited some of her friends to spend time at the house this week. She has been tied up with them." Christopher said. "She could have brought them with her. Look around. Everyone is invited." Rory said. I'll call her. See if she will come." Christopher said.

Rory was frustrated. Lana clearly had a problem with her family. As she was headed back to the pool after hitting the bathroom she saw Gigi laying out on the beach. Now would be a good time to talk.

Logan saw Christopher sitting on the deck with the phone to his ear. He looked around and couldn't find Rory. He swam to the steps to get out when he spotted her walking down the beach headed to Gigi. He got out of the pool. He stood and watched Rory and Gigi.

"Hey," Rory said, tapping Gigi on the shoulder. "We need to talk" Gigi took her AirPods out of her ears. "Let me guess, Our new step-mom," Gigi asked. Rory nodded. "What's her problem? I didn't want to say anything to you because I didn't want to sway you against her. But it seems you have the same thoughts" Gigi nodded her head. "I already had plans to stay here the whole time. It's a good thing because I would have nowhere to sleep. They have taken over the house. Along with her friends, she has a full staff." Gigi says. "Well, I just confronted daddy. I asked him if she had a problem with my family. He told me that she had company at the house, that is why she has not been over. I told him to call her and tell her to bring them." Rory said. "What about Aunt Lorelai?" Gigi asked "We talked while I was visiting yesterday. She was afraid with her mood swings she would say something out of line." Rory said. Gigi laughed. Aunt Lorelai cares that she may affect someone? That's funny." Gigi said.

Rory was back in the pool. She had a huge water soaker shooting water at the boys when she saw Lana and her crew arrive. It crossed her mind to soak them, but she didn't. She looked around for Logan, only to find him at the grill with Mitchum. Both men were deep in conversation while keeping an eye on the grill. Rory notices Cynthia move to greet them, only to have them turn toward the beach before she could get to them. Lorelai, Honor, and April were watching. Just because four ladies, with perfect bodies, were walking around half-naked, should not put ladies that were secure in their relationships on alert. But it did. She started laughing and shaking her head. Logan looked her way and waved. A group was on the beach playing volleyball. She wondered if they would notice them.

When the sun started setting, everyone was gathered on the deck. The kids were still in the pool. They had floats. That is where they are going to watch the fireworks. Lane and Zack bought a blow-up movie screen. It was hanging from the balcony of the 2nd-floor bedroom. It had been playing all the Jaws movies. The kids loved it.

Will got out of the pool to show his momma where scraped his toe on the side of the pool. Rory wrapped him in a towel to dry him off then Cynthia took him in the house to put a band-aid on it. When they came back out, he had a juice box. Rory leaned back on Logan who was sitting back in a lounge chair. Rory had a towel laid across her. All week, she has walked around in a bikini top and swim shorts. Today she felt self-conscious. Logan told her she was crazy. Will sat down on the edge of the lounge chair and leaned on Rory. "You tired baby?" Rory asked, "yes ma'am." Before she could say anything, Sam hollered "Come on Will '' Will handed his empty juice box to Rory, took off his towel, got a running start, and cannonballed, splashing everyone sitting close to the pool.

Lana and her crew were on towels next to the pool. They got splashed. One of the girls screamed and stood up. She let out a string of curse words. This scared Will. Chris and Sam started splashing them. "I don't know which one of you heathens splashed me, but you need your ass whipped." Rory was trying to get up, but Logan would not help her. Lorelai came from around the corner of the deck, April and Luke behind her. Before she could get to them. Cynthia stepped in. "Christopher, I think maybe you should take your wife and her friends home. This is a kid-friendly environment. If they did not want to get wet they should have sat around the corner away from the pool. The language that was used is not suitable for children of any age." Lana turned to Christopher. "I think you are right Cynthia. I do apologize on their behalf. Lana, time to go." Christopher got up, walked by the pool. Will, you did nothing wrong. Do you understand?" Christopher said Will nodded his head. Christopher stopped by where Rory and Logan were sitting. "I'm sorry, I......don't know what to say," Christopher said. "Christopher," Lorelai said. He looked at her and nodded his head. "I'll see you before we leave. Make sure Will understands that he did nothing wrong." Christopher said. "We will," Logan said.

As darkness fell, the fireworks started. Will had gotten out of the pool and was sitting with Rory and Logan. He had his fist close to his mouth. The rest of the little kids and some of the big kids were all in the pool watching the fireworks.
