Chapter 83 Tuesday, Not much better.

Monday was a long day. By the time Logan got home, it was quiet. The lights there were not on downstairs. He made his way to the office. Turned on the light and headed to the bar cart. He was desperate for a drink. He poured himself a scotch and sat down on the sofa in the office. He pulled out his phone looking at 'Tic Tok'. He needed a few laughs before heading to bed. He was going over his day in his head. He couldn't tell if the worst part of his day was talking to Shira or telling Honor about Shira. If it was not for his sister, he would not give Shira another thought.

The next morning, Rory woke to an empty bed. She could tell he had come to bed, but he must have left early. Rory just sighed. She knew this was the way things work. Logan has been so good dealing with Melissa and now Shira. She knew he must be behind in his work. She was trying to understand. Her hormones were up and down. She missed him when she woke up to an empty bed.

Rory dresses in leggings and one of Logan's yale tee shirts and heads downstairs. When she got to the kitchen she realized she had the house to herself. No one was home. She poured a cup of coffee and headed to the office. There was a note taped to her computer from Logan and one from Karson. Logan's note asked her to call him when she got up. She called Logan's office but John said he was in a meeting. Logan asked him to ask her to meet him for lunch. Rory told John to tell Logan that she would meet him at his office at noon.

Rory looked at her watch, she had about 3 hours before she needed to leave. She sat down and started on the edits Sally sent. Rory heard a noise coming from the kitchen. Ms. Lewis must be here. She looked at her watch and realized she had been working for almost 2 and a half hours. She walked to the kitchen to find Ricky digging around in the refrigerator.

"Hey, I thought you were Ms. Lewis," Rory said. "Nah, afraid not. According to this note on the fridge, she will not be in today." Ricky said pointing to the note. "I see. What are you doing at home? I thought you were working today." "I was, I went in, but got an email from one of my professors about a project he wants me to be a part of. I decided to come home and change clothes before meeting him. Thought I would grab a sandwich too." Rory smiled at Ricky. She looked so much like Billy only with blond hair. "That's not a problem. I am headed upstairs myself to change. I am going to meet Logan for lunch." Rory grabbed an apple and headed upstairs. She was glad that Ricky was fitting in.

Rory stopped at Renea's desk to chit-chat. Renea wanted Rory to stand back so she could see Rory's belly. While they stood there talking, her Uncle Stanley came by Renea's desk. "Rory, you look wonderful. How are you feeling? I just left a meeting with Logan. He was telling me the doctor is concerned about your blood pressure. You know you need to take it easy. Do I need to send your Aunt Betty to straighten you out?" Rory laughed, "No, sir, I promise I will do everything in my power to stay stress-free until the baby is born." "Logan tells me it's a girl." "Yes, we can add a girl to our bookends." Stanley laughed. "Got to run, meeting Betty for lunch. Don't want to be late." Stanley said as he headed out the door. "I guess that's my cue to head upstairs. Talk to you later Renea." Rory said as she headed to the elevator bank.

Logan was standing at the elevator when the doors opened. Before she could get out, Logan stepped in and pushed the button for the garage. He then turned around and kissed Rory on the lips. She put her arms around his neck and laid her head on his shoulder. "I miss you this morning," she told him. "Yeah me too," Logan said. He didn't let go of her until he heard the bell chime for the doors to open. He escorted her to his car. "Where are we going for lunch?" She asked. "I haven't made a reservation, so you tell me, what does Em want?"

Rory and Logan had a quick lunch at a diner close to Logan's office. According to Rory, Em wanted a greasy hamburger and chili fries. After Logan dropped her off at her car, he headed back to his office. When the elevator doors opened, John was standing there. He entered the elevator and pushed the first floor. He tugged on Logan's jacket. "Don't leave, I need you to come with me." Logan backed up, and the doors closed. Before they closed he was sure he saw Shira standing by the conference room next to his office. "What?" Logan said, turning to John. "What the hell is she doing here?" Logan had steam coming from his ears. "Logan, calm down. Please, the last thing I want is for you to have a stroke." The bell dinged for the doors to open to the 1st floor. John stopped the doors from opening. "I am going to tell Renea that Shira is not allowed upstairs, and if she attempts to come upstairs she will call security." Logan nodded. "I am then going to call security to meet me at Renea's desk and have them escort her out. I have your laptop," He took it off his arm and gave it to Logan "And your car keys" He handed them to Logan also. "Go home, work from your office at home for the rest of the day." Logan nodded again. "Thanks, John." "No problem Logan. That's what I am here for." He opened the elevator door, pushed the button for the garage, and stepped out of the elevator.

When Logan got home, he could hear Rory laughing. He walked into the living room where he saw Lane and Rory sitting on the loveseat. He walked over to kiss Rory and speak to Lane when he heard someone coming from the kitchen. He turned around to see a tall dark-headed man with two bottles of water in his hand. He looked familiar, but Logan could not place him. "Logan," Rory said as she stood up, "You remember Jess?" Oh yeah, this was my ex-boyfriend, now cousin Jess. "Yeah, I remember Jess." Logan walked to him and stuck out his hand. "It's been a long time," Logan said. "Yeah," Jess said as he handed Rory a bottle of water after shaking Logan's hand. "Jess and Lane stopped by to check on me." "It's nice to have friends that care. Sorry to interrupt, I am going to the office to get some work done." Logan said as he headed down the hall. "If you excuse me for a minute, I'll be right back." Rory headed down the hall toward the office.

"Hey," She said as she walked in the door behind him. "What are you doing at home? When I left you at lunch you were talking about all the work that needed to be done. You even told me that you may not be home for supper." Rory said. "Before I could get off the elevator, John stepped in and told me he needed my help with something. As the doors were closing, I caught a glimpse of Shira. John was saving me." Logan said. "I guess, I will work from home the rest of the day." Rory reached up and kissed him on the lips. "At least you will be home for supper, too," She said as she closed the door behind her.

Rory returned to the living room where Jess and Lane were talking about music.
