Chapter 63 Proof

Logan and Ricky arrived at the tarmac. While Frank and Jeffery loaded the plane, Logan and Ricky entered and took a seat. Logan had explained to Ricky what was happening. When Mitchum entered, Logan introduced them as well as when Honor boarded. Dillon was already in California. He would be meeting them at the tarmac.

When Jeffery advised it was okay to unbuckle, Mitchum and Logan both opened their laptops, pulling spreadsheets out of their messenger bag and briefcase. Ricky pulled out his tablet and phone. He quickly found a movie to watch and got comfortable. Honor also pulled out her phone, pulled in the earbuds, leaned the seat back, and closed her eyes.

About two hours later, Susan entered the cabin and asked if she could fix them some breakfast. She named off the thing available. Everyone ate in silence. After eating Honor and Ricky chatted a while. Honor was telling him about places in Hartford and the surrounding areas that he might find interesting. Ricky told her that Karson has been introducing him to her friends. Logan was typing on his computer but had one ear listening to Honor and Ricky. He hasn't told Rory, but he had Dillon look into Ricky's activities in California. He had his family to protect. So far Dillon hasn't found anything other than a few indiscretions. Logan was familiar with stuff like that.

When they landed, Dillon was waiting for them. He already rented a car for Ricky to drive to Santa Monica to get his stuff. Before Ricky left, Logan made sure he had enough cash as well as his debit card. He told Ricky where they were staying and if he decided to stay in Santa Monica tonight to just let him know. Plans were to leave by 10 am tomorrow.

Logan, Honor, Mitchum, and Dillon stopped to check-in at the Martin. After dropping off their luggage, Honor called Taylor. "Taylor, this is Honor Chase, Shira Huntzburger's daughter. I am in town and would like to see her today. When will be a good time?" Honor had her on speaker so that everyone could hear. "Honor, Hey, I'm not sure today will be a good day. Shira has had a few setbacks and the doctors have her resting with no visitors." "Really, does she normally have visitors? I can not imagine who would be in California to see my mother." Taylor said. "I believe your brother and his wife were here after the honeymoon." Logan was shaking his head. "I see, okay, I will be here for a couple of days. Maybe she will feel better then. I didn't realize she had taken a turn for the worst. I will contact my brother. He should have told me." Honor said. She was smiling. Taylor had been caught. "Oh, I haven't contacted your brother yet. I was going to wait until Monday to see if she was feeling better." "Oh," Honor said. "I'm sure I read in the contract that my brother and myself signed along with that huge check that the facility will call if there is any change in Mother's behavior or her meds." "Yes, that is what the contract says, but someone fell to notify me. I just saw it in the folder on my desk. I came in on Sunday to get caught up on my paperwork. I am so sorry, '' Taylor said. "I will call you if she gets better and you can visit. I hope you didn't come all the way out here just to visit." Taylor said. "No, I have other business in California. Could you contact me to her doctor? He is not in at this time." Taylor said. "She has several doctors, are you telling me that there is not a doctor on the premises?" "No, I thought you wanted to talk with the head doctor. Hold on and I will transfer you." They heard a click and then the phone was ringing. It went straight to voicemail.

Honor hung up the phone. "Honor that was good. Quick thinking about the doctors." Logan said. "What do you think is going on?" Honor asked. Dillon was sitting at the desk in the suit with his laptop. Dillon pressed a button and Taylor's voice was loud and clear. They all turned toward Dillon. He just smiled. "Logan, you pay me good money to get the information that you need," Dillon said.
ON THE LAPTOP:

Taylor "Shira, your family is in California. Honor just called. She wants to see you. I told her that she had a setback and was not feeling well. The doctors had you on bed rest and no visitors. You better get back here before you are discovered.

Shira "Shit. I'll be back in a little while. If she shows up, distract her. She is easily distracted, just asked about her children or about Logan's wedding. She loved to talk."

Taylor "Bob, Shira's daughter is here to see her. I told them she was on bed rest with no visitors. I need you to back me up if she shows up before Shira gets back.

Bob "I'm almost there, get a sedative ready. If you need to put it in her water bottle or tea you offer her. Did you call Shira and tell her to get back?"

Taylor "Yes, but she said it will take a little while for her to get back."

Bob "Alert security and try to stale until she gets back.

Logan and Honor looked shocked. Mitchum was smiling. Dillon said. "I told the staff that I was with the exterminator. I had fallen behind on my route and needed to be let in after-hours to spray for bugs. They let me in. I placed a bug in her office as well as in Shira's room." "Logan, I'm not sure what you pay Dillon, but I have a feeling it is not enough." Honor said. Logan and Dillon laughed. "Ms. Honor, he pays me enough. But thanks."

"Well, I don't know about you, but I am going to visit Cliffside. And Dillon, remind me to have my office swept for bugs randomly." Logan said. Everyone was laughing.

They pulled at the gate in a town car with Dillon as the driver. Mitchum and Honor were in the back and Logan was riding shotgun. Logan handed Dillon his ID to show the guard. "Family to visit Ms. Huntzburger," Dillon said as he showed Logan's ID as well as his own. Guard stepped up to the car and took the ID. He stepped back into the booth and made a phone call. He stepped back out, handing the Id back to Dillon. "I'm sorry, Ms. Huntzburger is on bedrest with no visitors. You will have to come back tomorrow." The guard told Dillon. Logan leaned up. Counted out 5 100-dollar bills and handed it to Dillon. Dillon in return looked at the guard, "Mike, is it?" the guard looked down at the name tag on his uniform and nodded his head. "Mike, I am sure you could take a break right about now," Dillon said as he waved the money, being careful to avoid the cameras. Mike looked around to see if anyone was looking. Logan leaned up again. "They are $500 more when we leave." Mike took the money and moved the barrier so that Dillon could drive through.
