Chapter 109 Lorelai

When Logan descended the stairs, he saw Lorelai sitting on the sofa. He didn't see his dad anywhere. Lorelai never looked away from the TV. Logan went to the office. He found his dad. "What are you doing in here," Logan asked. "I was just...... I didn't want to stay there with Lorelai. I don't have answers to the questions she is asking." Mitchum said. "Yeah, I know. Rory stopped by the boys' room. Cynthia was getting them ready for bed. Rory is getting the baby monitor out of Em's room. She is setting it up in the boys' room." Logan said. "I agree," Mitchum said

Logan could hear talking in the living room. He and Mitchum left the office to see. Cynthia and Jessi were talking. Lorelai was still sitting on the sofa, she had a cup of coffee. When Cynthia saw Logan and Mitchum she said. "As I was telling Lorelai, Rory is reading the boys a bedtime story." While she was talking Jessi moved closer to Mitchum. This did not go unnoticed. "Did she get the baby monitors hooked up or does she need my help?" "The monitor was working when I left," Cynthia said. "Mitchum, are you ready?" Cynthia asked, "Give me a minute" he turned to Logan and motioned for him to follow him down the hall. "I can get security inside the house if you want." Logan shook his head. "Dad, I've got one on the gate and 2 walking the perimeter. I'm sure I will not sleep much tonight. I will try to get Rory to take Benadryl so that she can sleep." "If you need anything or anything happens call me. Cynthia will know what to do to keep Rory calm."

Rory came down the stairs at the same time Logan and Mitchum returned. "Ace, the boys asleep?" Rory sighed, "Yeah. They're in the same bed....It was their idea." Rory said defensively. "How are you feeling?" Cynthia asked. "A lot better, thank you," Rory said. Cynthia looked at Mitchum, then back to Rory and Logan. "We are going. If you need us, just call. If you feel uncomfortable or anything out of the ordinary, call me." Cynthia said. Mitchum, Cynthia, and Jessi left, leaving Lorelai, Rory, and Logan.

"Mom, it's not too late. Do you want to watch a movie?" Lorelai had not said anything since she first came in. She looked at Logan, Then Rory. "No, not in the mood for a movie," Lorelai said, looking again at Logan than Rory. Rory was already sitting in her chair. Logan moved to sit in his. Logan was thinking, if she is not in the mood for a movie, she needs to leave so we can relax. Before Logan could sit down, his cell phone rang. He pulled it out of his pocket and answered it. "Hello?" Logan said and stepped to the French doors leading to the patio. He stood back, away from Rory and Lorelai.

"Rory" Lorelai started, but Rory sshhed her. She wanted to hear Logan's end of the conversation. When he returned to the living room to sit down, he was off the phone. Before Rory could ask who he was talking to, Lorelai said. "Logan, could you leave us alone for a few minutes, so I can talk with my daughter?" Logan looked at Rory, then back to Lorelai. "I'm sorry, tonight is not a good night," Logan said. Lorelai looked at Rory. she was waiting for Rory to tell him to kiss her ass. She would talk with her mom anytime she wanted. But Rory did say that. She didn't say anything.

"Okay, I guess I don't have to talk to my daughter alone, but I do want some answers," Lorelai said. Logan stood up, Lorelai thought he was leaving the room. But he just went to the bar cart, poured himself a scotch, and grabbed a couple of bottles of water. When he walked back in he gave one to Rory and offered the other to Lorelai. Once he was seated, "Lorelai, asked your questions. We will answer the best we can." "What happened to Ricky? Was he poisoned? Why would you not let me and Luke keep the kids instead of having Honor meet me here with them? I am their grandmother. Am I not good enough now to watch my grandchildren.?" Logan stopped her. "Lorelai, can go ahead and address the questions you have already asked." She nodded. Not taking her eyes off Rory. She couldn't tell how she was feeling. This was something Lorelai had always believed she could look at Rory and know how she was feeling. Not now.

"Ricky was poisoned at the festival," Logan said. Before he could continue "Do you know that for sure?" Lorelai asked. "Mom, let Logan answer your questions. Then you can ask more." "As I was saying," Logan was now talking in his board meeting voice. Rory thought. Not good. " Ricky was poisoned at the festival. This is based on the information we have at this time. We believe the cotton candy or the pretzel was sprinkled with poison. He will be in the hospital for a few days. The poison, again this is based on information we have at this time, affected Ricky quickly because he has asthma. We think the poison was meant for the boys" Logan said. At this time Lorelai jumped up. "You have got to be kidding. Who would want to hurt those boys? Logan is this one of your business deals gone wrong. Someone trying to get back at you by poisoning my grandchildren?" Lorelai was now pacing around the living room. Rory took a deep breath and looked at Logan as if saying 'I'm sorry "Lorelai, all we know is someone intentionally hurt Ricky. We are speculating that it was meant for the boys. Because at the time, we had little information, the safest thing was to get the boys under guard." Logan said. Lorelai looked at him like she was trying to figure out what to say. "You both know that I usually say what is on my mind. I am trying to word this so I do not sound accusing. "Do you not think Luke and myself can take care of them, keep them out of harm's way?"

Logan started to speak, but Rory stopped him. "When you left with them Friday night, you were asked to watch them carefully, due to several things going on in Logan and my life. You brushed it out. You did not act like you were taking it seriously." "You don't think I take my grandchild's well-being seriously?" Lorelai asked. "You were not taking the situation seriously, that is why I have security walking the grounds of the festival," Logan said. "And it was a good thing I did" "Mom, can you tell me where the boys met up with Ricky and Karson? Again with the information, we have right now, you were not close to them." Lorelai opened her mouth, then closed it again. "I'm sorry if I have done anything to make you feel that I can not protect my grandsons." Lorelai got up, bent down, and hugged Rory. "I will talk to you later, will you call me when you hear anything else about Ricky or any of this?" Lorelai asked. Logan nodded his head as she walked to the door.
