Chapter 115 Family time in New York

The family has been in New York for almost a week. Logan felt like everyone was adapting to the new normal for now. He couldn't wait for Martha's Vineyard trip in July. He would be glad to see the boys running and playing. Logan, Ricky, and Frank took the boys to the small park about a block from the apartment. Logan and Ricky followed behind them. They were on their scooters. Frank and one of Logan's security team followed in the car as best he could. When they got to the park, Ricky and Logan played with the boys. They threw the frisbee with the boys. They played kicked ball with a group of boys their age. They had done this twice and at night. The security team suggested that was the best time. The park would not be as crowded. Rory wanted to go with them, but Logan was afraid, if something happened, they would not be able to protect Rory and the boys. She settled for taking a helicopter ride with them.

Karson and Evelyn were helping to entertain them during the day. They would take them swimming in the indoor pool and play games with them. Rory was letting them have more screen time than she liked. She and Lorelai have been talking more. Lorelai's words still stung, but she had made it clear to her that Logan and Rory made the decisions for this family.

Honor canceled Rory's baby shower schedules for May the 7th. It was too close to when the family started their stay in New York. She rescheduled it for this Saturday, May 14. Honor discussed it with Rory and Logan. Rory was insistent that she did not need a shower, but she agreed. Honor made a point in telling her the shower was not for her but for baby Em, and the older ladies who thought they should honor Emily and Richard's Great-granddaughter.

Honor, Josh, their boys, Mitchum, Cynthia and Jessi are all coming to visit Friday night. Honor, Cynthia, and Rory would leave on the helicopter Saturday morning. The party is planned for the HUntzburge Manor. Cynthia Honor and Sookie prepared the food. There would be no wait staff. The food was prepared in the kitchen of the manor. All precautions were taken.

Friday afternoon, Rory was taking a nap. This had become her normal. The boys had quiet time while Rory napped. They usually watch a movie, sometimes they even take a nap. She woke up Friday afternoon to a lot of commotion downstairs. She got up to see Honor, Cynthia, Jessi, and Samual had arrived. As descended the stairs, Honor said "Rory, look at you. You have gotten so big, Oh I didn't mean it like that. You are so beautiful. I just haven't seen you in a couple of weeks. Are you doing okay? Baby Em is okay?" Honor said. "Momma is having a baby. Baby Em is in her belly. She is not hurt. Mommy takes care of her like she does me and Will" Chris said sternly. "I know buddy. I was just checking. Your mom is a great mom. She takes care of you and Will. Baby Em, Karson, and Daddy." Honor said. "And Ricky '' Will said with his thumb close to his mouth. He was not sucking it, but he had started holding it close to his mouth. Rory smiled at him. "Yes, I take care of all of you, but you'll take care of me too," Rory said as she stood by Will, removing his hand from near his mouth.

Not too long after Honor and crew arrived, Logan and Ricky arrived from work. "Hey, you got off early today, kissed her," Rory said with a smile. Logan smiled at her and gave her a kiss. "Yes, we did." "Honor" Logan said, kissing her cheek and "Cynthia" also kissing her on the cheek. "Where's Dad and Josh?" he asked. Before they could answer, Jessi piped up. Daddy, Josh, and Joshua are coming on the other helicopter later. They had to wait for Joshua to get out of school," Logan turned around. "Jessi, I'm sorry, I didn't see you over there." He stepped to her and bent down and kissed her on the cheek.

Ricky and Logan headed to the rooftop after a while to get everything ready to grill. Logan texted his dad to see how far out they were. The helipad was right next to the garden terrorist with the outdoor kitchen. Logan wanted to wait for the helicopter to land before he started the grill. Rory and the boys got off the elevator. "They wanted to come up here with you.k They want to see Pops land." Rory told Logan. "That's fine. We will watch them." Rory returned to the penthouse.

Honor and Cynthia were talking, "that is just one of the reasons I like this penthouse better than Logan's." Rory sat down next to Cynthia. "Let me guess," Rory said. "The way the rooftop terrorist is set up?" Honor laughed and nodded. "Well don't keep me in suspense," Cynthia said. "It has a pool, shuffleboard, chess, tables, and an outdoor kitchen, with a giant flat screen. But what I like best is there is a high fence all the way around. You don't have to worry about the kids getting close to the edge" Rory said.

At about that time, Joshua exited the elevator. "Uncle Logan said we could eat on the roof." Joshua said. "It's still a little chilly," Honor said. "Uncle Logan said you would say that and he told me to tell you that you are a wimp," Joshua said. "You tell Uncle Logan he is in trouble" Honor said. Joshua laughed. "He told me to tell you we could eat on the, on the, I can't remember what side he said. Maybe the north side?"Joshua said. "The north side by the outdoor kitchen has a wind barrier you can put up," Rory said. "That must be new," Honor said. Rory just shrugged her shoulders.

They all enjoyed spending time together. Joshua and Samual slept in Will and Chris' room. Ricky moved to the playroom, on the futon. Jessi camped out with Karson. That gave everyone plenty of room. Logan insisted Rory go up to bed after she yawned for the second time. Everyone told her that she should go. "We are family," Cynthia said. "Everyone has their room assignments. We will make sure the boys get to bed." Honor said. Rory turned to Mitchum, "are you sure you and Cynthia don't want to take the master bedroom. Logan and I can move" "No, Rory, this is your home as long as you are staying here. We will be fine." Mitchum said. "You go ahead upstairs, we will send Logan soon," Cynthia said. "No, Logan, take your time. I will be fine. We are leaving early?" She asked Honor. "Yes, around 10:00." Honor said.
