Chapter 14 Making Plans for the Weekend
Again, Logan gets to work before anyone else. He is trying to get everything done so that he can relax this weekend. He talked with Rory and the boys last night. He is going to come over Wednesday night and bring them pizza. John arrived shortly after Logan. He asked Logan if he could talk with him about the move to Hartford. John told Logan that he had talked it over with Stephen. Stephen's family is from Hartford and his dad is sick. Stephen has been helping his sister take care of him. They are going to have a family meeting. Bottom line, John and Stephen are going to move to an apartment in Hartford and Stephen is going to take care of his dad. Logan told him that is great, not that Stephen's dad is sick but that it will work out so that Stephen is able to help with his dad.
After lunch, John told Logan that his mother called to put a dinner on the books for Friday night. Logan told John that is not happening. "I'll call my mother. What is on the books for Wednesday week? If I am available, I'll call mom and Honor and set something up. I should have done that to start with. I knew she would set it up for this week."
Logan called Honor and she agreed to Wednesday week. She also told her that she talked with Rory and they have a play date set for Thursday afternoon. Logan was glad that Honor and Rory got along so well. He just wished his parents were like Honor.
Logan calls the Huntzburger Manor. The maid answers and tells him that Ms. Huntzburger is out at the moment. Logan tells her to mark it on his mother's calendar that him, Honor and her family will be at the Manor Wednesday week for drinks and dinner. 6:00 sharp.
John checks in with Logan before he heads home. Logan tells him to be ready to leave by 9:00 am. They will take the helicopter and he needs to be prepared to spend the night. He also tells him that if Stephen is not already in Hartford, to bring him. "You can make reservations for a suite at the Morgan, or you can stay at my apartment."
Logan left shortly after John. He had to go pack and talk to Rory. His plans are to work out of the Hartford office Wednesday and Thursday with John, then send John back Thursday night. Logan is going to take Rory with him Friday morning.
Due to the fog, they did not get to Hartford until lunch time. After landing, Logan told Stephen to call for a town car to take him to his dad's. Logan and John worked most of the day with the architect on the plans to expand the Hartford office. John will have to spend tomorrow at city hall to get the permits. Looks like this could be normal for the next few weeks. When construction starts, he or either John will need to be in Hartford. This was something they would need to work out.
About 5:30 Rory was getting the boys out of the pool. She told them that Logan will be there in a few minutes with the pizza. Chris said "Does he know I not like any sauce on my pizza?" Rory told him yeah, Logan will order the right kind of pizza. She didn't tell the boys, but she ordered the pizzas, Logan was just picking them up. So, what if she let him take credit for it.
While Rory was in the kitchen getting the plates to set the table on the patio, she heard her cell phone ring. Will yelled. "Mommy, it's Daddy." Rory told him to answer it and share with his brother. When Rory walked out, the boys were talking to Billy. She heard the gate opening and knew Logan would be here in a minute with the pizzas.
She went to open the door for Logan, giving him a kiss on the lips, then taking the pizzas and garlic bread from him. She told him the boys are on the patio facetiming Billy. She gave him the pizzas back and told him to go ahead to the patio, she was getting the wine glasses and milk for the boys.
When Rory enters the patio, the boys and Logan are talking. She sends Will to tell Karson that the pizza is here.
They enjoy dinner on the patio. Laughing and having a good time. After dessert, Ice cream oh course, Karson takes the boys to get a bath. Rory tells them that she will be up after they have brushed their teeth to read them a story. As they are going up the stairs, Chris and Will are talking about which story Rory was going to read.
Logan told Rory to scoot over and he sat down on the lounge. He told her about his day. He told her that he will be in Hartford till Friday morning, when he picks her up for New York. She told him that she was not going to be able to get a babysitter until Saturday. She did not feel comfortable leaving Karson alone with the boys overnight with her being so far away. His mom and Luke went to Nantucket. She called her mom about keeping the boys, but before she could ask her, she began to tell Rory about a call she got from the caretaker at the compound in Nantucket. There is a problem with the water. He turned it off, but it needs to be repaired. Luke didn't want to wait until the weekend when he would have trouble getting the parts to fix it, so they are going up tonight. She told Logan she didn't have the heart to ask her to take the boys with her.
Logan told her that is okay, Bring Karson with you. She can stay at the apartment with the boys. It is secure and I have a whole room of gaming consoles. She said she would ask Karson about it tonight and if she is okay with it, that would be the plan. She told Logan, "you will get to see all the ups and downs of having twin boys."
Karson comes down and tells Rory that the boys have brushed their teeth and are in bed waiting. Rory tells her to sit down, she wants to talk with her. She tells about her plans for the weekend and asks if she would like to come to New York with them to help with the boys. Karson agreed. Logan was on the phone with Collin and they agreed to have Andrew and his nanny come stay at the apartment too. Karson agreed and asked would there be any time for her to go explore New York. Rory said," I think we can arrange a shopping trip maybe Sunday before we head back." Logan said that he would watch the boys while they shopped. Rory thought this could be a great weekend.
When Rory went to read a story to the boys, Logan made a pot of coffee, while Karson put the pool toys away. When Rory came back down, Karson asked if it was okay for her to meet some friends for coffee. Rory told "sure, have fun and be careful"
Logan stayed for a couple more hours just talking, then went to his apartment. He had a lot to do Thursday and Friday.
