Chapter 108 Who poisoned Ricky?

Rory and Logan were allowed to go see Ricky before they took him to a room upstairs. He would have to stay the weekend to be able to take all the treatments. After Rory saw Ricky, Logan was able to convince her to let Karson drive her home. Rory had talked with Honor, she and Cynthia were at the Gilmore-Huntzburger manor with the boys. Mitchum was on his way to the hospital. Logan was staying to talk with the police. They arrived shortly after Logan and Rory. They talked with Ryan. He asked them to give them some time to find out how Ricky was doing before he started questioning. Ryan gave him a card with his name and HPG on it. Logan walked Rory and Karson out to his car. He gave Karson the keys and told her to be careful. "Don't let it get away from you. It is easy to do,'' Logan told her. He helped Rory into the car, kissed her, and told her he would keep her updated.

As he shut the door, he saw his Dad walking toward him. Now he figured he would spend most of his time trying to keep Christopher and Mitchum out of jail. "Hey, dad. I talked Rory into going home. She got to see Ricky, so she feels better, now she just wants to hug the boys." "Cynthia is with Honor at your house. I added another security team to your house." Logan nodded. "Now can you tell me what happened and why you think it was an attack?" Logan explained to Mitchum what Ryan told them. He also told him what Dr. Wilburn said about Ricky. They were almost at the ambulance ramp when Logan spotted two plainclothes policemen, along with Dillon and Agent Horn.

"The police and FBI are here. They have questions. Ryan asked them to wait until Rory could see Ricky before they started questioning them. I Just sent Karson home. They will have questions for her too." Logan said. "Tell them you will have her at the police station first thing in the morning. That way she can get a good night's sleep, or at least try." Mitchum said.

When Logan and Mitchum got back to the waiting room, Dr. Wilburn told Logan that the helicopter had landed, dropped off the medicine, and was headed back to New York. Logan thanked him for letting him know. Mitchum looked at Logan. "They needed some medicine from New York. I volunteered one of HPG's helicopters to pick up the meds and bring them here." Mitchum nodded. "Good thinking."

Dillon walked over to Logan and Mitchum. They were standing watching Agent Horn and the 2 investigators talk with Ryan and Curt. He had arrived before Mitchum. "They seem to think that Ricky either ate or drank something that had the poison in it. Because of Ricky's asthma, he panicked when he couldn't take a deep breath. The lab in the hospital can not determine how much was in his system. Agent Horn is taking it to New Haven tonight. They should have the results in the morning."

"Dillon," Logan said, looking at his investigator and friend. "What are you not telling me?" Logan knew Dillon too well. "It's only a theory. Ryan and I were talking. We both agree...." "Spit it out Dillon," Mitchum said. "We are talking about my family." Dillon swallowed and looked at Ryan who was talking with Agent Horn. "Ricky was not the target." "Dillon, don't make me drag this out of you. I know this is only a theory." Logan said. "We think one or both of the boys were the target. Ricky, as an adult, was able to handle it, because he got help immediately. If one of the boys got it, as small as they are" Dillon said. Logan stopped him. "Don't say it. I don't know if I can bear to hear it."

Logan took out his phone and called Rory. "Hey, You made it home?.... Get Karson to warm up something out of the freezer for supper. No, take out please......soon, I love you. Kiss the boys.....I will." Logan hung up the phone, slipped it back in his pocket. He rubbed his hands down his face. "I'll be back in a minute. I need some fresh air." Logan said as he walked out of the emergency room doors.

He was outside for about 15 minutes when Christopher stepped out. "They are ready to take Dillon upstairs. He wanted to know if Karson could stay with him tonight. I told him I would ask." Logan nodded. "I'm on my way to your house. Gigi was headed there when I told her she couldn't come to the hospital." Logan nodded. "I will call Karson and tell her she should come back up here and bring Ricky some clothes. I want to talk to Ricky one more time before I leave." Logan said. "Mitchum said he added more security to your house," Christopher asked. Logan nodded. I am going to have someone stay outside Ricky's room tonight." Logan said. "Good idea" Both men walked back into the hospital.
