Chapter 9 Car Shopping

While Rory, the boys, and Karson are headed to Chad's Office to check out the cars he has for her, her dad Christopher calls.

Rory "Hello dad, "Boys "Hey Grampa" Christopher "Hey Kiddos, how are you doing, Chris and Will start talking at once. Christopher "Woah, Slow down. I'm calling to see if you guys and your mom want to meet me and auntie Gigi for lunch?" Boys "yes, yes, can we go to the place with the video games?" Christopher "Sure if it's okay with your mom." Rory "Dad that's fine. I have Karson with me also. We are on the way to Chad's to look at new cars." Christopher "What? Don't tell me the boys are old enough to drive already. I know I haven't seen them all summer, but really?" Christopher, the boys, Rory, and Karson laughed. Rory "No, dad, they are still me sweet little boys" Will "Grampa, mama was in a wreck and broke her arm." Chris "no Will, not her arm, her the place like your ankle but on your hand." Rory "my wrist, and I did not break it." Christopher "Rory you, okay? What happened?" Yes, dad, I'm fine the boys were not with me. I'll tell you about it at lunch." Christopher "Okay, if it's okay with you, can we meet you at Chad's? I know he will do you right. He knows better than to try to hike the price, but I would like to be there anyway." Rory "sure, we will be there in about 15 minutes." They both hung up the phone. Rory was riding and Karson was driving. She hoped her dad wouldn't start in on her spending too much money.

When they pulled up to Chad's place, her dad and Chad were sitting in his office talking and Gigi was looking at sports cars. Karson and Rory got Will and Chris out of the car. They went to Auntie Gigi. Rory met her Dad and Chad as they were coming out the door.

Chad "Rory, how are you doing?" Rory "I'm okay, Hey Dad" hugging Christopher.

Chad said "I pulled three different Range Rovers around for you to look at. If we don't have what you want, we can sit down and order. It is according to what feature you want as well as the color. If we have it on another lot, we can get it here within the week. If we have to go factory, it could be up to a month or two." Rory just nodded her head as she walked to the White Ranger Rover Velar. She opened the door and sat down in the car. Chad tossed her the keys. She told her dad to jump in, they would test drive it. She called Karson, who was with Gigi and the boys on the other side of the lot, and told her she was going for a test drive, to please watch the boys.

As Rory drove down the road her Dad was looking at all the features. He told Rory "this is a nice car. It has a leather seat, seat warmers, and an entertainment center in the back. What do you think? Rory, "It smells nice, I like the leather seats. They are easy to clean. Did you look at the sticker price?" Christopher "yeah $70,000 is about right, it's got the navigation system and 4 WD." Rory "I don't think I will need the 4 WD, but I guess it can't hurt. What do you think of the Color? I really wanted black exterior, not sure about the white interior. I think I would prefer black Interior." She pulled over in a parking lot and she and Christopher changed places. She looked around and checked out all the extra while he drove.

They got back to the car lot and told Chad she likes this car, but would really like it to have black or dark interior. He checked on the computer and said there was one at the Stamford lot and he could have it here by Monday, detailed and ready to go. She said sure, that will be fine. She then told him she wanted to look at a Red or Burgundy Jeep Grand Cherokee, 4 WD and fully loaded. He showed her the burgundy Jeep Grand Cherokee on the lot. He told her that it had come in last week and he had driven It to the lot in New Haven. They had a client that wanted to look at it. When he got there, the father decided not to buy his 16-year-old son a Jeep Cherokee, instead, he purchased a Jeep Wrangler. Rory got in and looked around the Jeep. It was nice. It was brand new, very few miles on it. Leather interior, entertainment system as well as navigation and backup cameras.

She told Chad that she would like for Karson to drive it. She called Karson and the boys over and told Karson to drive it around the block and tell her what she thought of it. Karson was surprised. She was glad Rory was looking at cool cars for her to haul the boys around in.

While Karson and Gigi drove off in the Jeep Cherokee, Christopher said, "Do you think we will see them again?" Rory laughed, "I'm sure they will be okay. I trust Karson with my boys. Now Gigi is another thing" Christopher just laughed and nodded.

Chad and Rory were in his office going over the paperwork for the two SUVs. After talking with her dad, Rory decided to let Gigi have the black Cadillac Escalade. It was fully loaded. Only had 90, 000 miles and was still in good shape. Christopher had backed into Gigi's BMW and it was in the shop. She had been asking him for an SUV. With all her cheerleading and Golf equipment she needed more room.

Rory signed all the paperwork and wrote Chad a check. She gathered up the boys and put them back in the Escalade. Karson and Gigi jumped in the Jeep and Christopher in his Tesla and they headed to lunch. Gigi wasn't happy at first about getting the Escalade. She wanted a new car, but Christopher explained that this SUV will be fine. She had two more years of school and she could pick out any vehicle she wanted for her graduation present as long as she graduated with honors. That satisfied Gigi for the moment.

After eating, Christopher took the boys to the arcade while the girls went shopping. Gigi said she thinks she remembers Logan from when Rory and he dated before. Rory was giggling and showing them his Facebook page. She was acting like a teenager in love. She likes it. They finally found a dress for Rory to wear tonight. They then went to get a manicure and a pedicure. Christopher took the Escalade with the boys back to Rory's house. After the mani-pedi, she was on her way home to get ready for her date. She was as excited as a girl going to prom.

When they got back to the house, Karson and Gigi helped Rory get ready. Christopher took the boys to Luke's for burgers, then he would bring them back to Karson and pick up Gigi. This worked for everyone. The boys loved going to Luke's. Luke and Christopher had mended fences after Rory got married. They had actually become friends.
