Chapter 117. Rory's baby shower

The shower Honor and Lorelai had planned was moved from the Rose Room at the country club to the Huntzburger Manor. This afforded better security. The food had been prepared by Sookie and Cynthia. There would be no wait staff. This would be handled by Honor, Cynthia, and Lane. When Honor was addressing invitations she noticed only a few women from Stars Hollow on the list Lorelai gave her. When she mentioned it to Rory, Rory asked her mom. Lorelai explained to Rory that she and Sookie would be throwing her a real baby shower at the Inn. She went on to tell her about the games they would play and the food Sookie was planning. Rory shook her head. Only her mother would do something like this. Rory explained this to Honor and told her not to worry about it. When Lorelai got something in her head, there was no changing her mind.

Honor had a car waiting at the Hartford office. This is where the helicopter would land. No one thinks twice about a helicopter landing and taking off from the Hartford office helipad. Cynthia had the driver drop her, Jessi, and Karson off at the Huntzburger Manor. She told the driver to drive around for about 15 minutes.

When the car finally dropped them off at the Huntzburger Manor, Rory noticed a lot of cars. When she entered the shower, She noticed how beautiful it was. It was decorated perfectly with just enough whimsical, not to override the formal decors of high society.

When Rory walked in, she was met with a dark pink sash to wear. It was great, it matched her pale pink dress. Rory felt like a queen. Honor ushered her to a chair set in the middle of the room. It was decorated like a queen's throne. As soon as she sat down, Honor went to fix Rory a plate and get her some punch. Some of Emily's friends and Richard's business associates' wives were the first to stop by and talk with Rory. Honor brought her a plate. While she was eating, in between the ladies and some of Rory's friends, Rory kept looking around. "We will walk around when you finish eating. I want you to see some of the baby pictures I was able to gather." Honor was laughing.

After a while, Rory stood up to go to the bathroom. She looked around the room. She still has not spotted Lorelai. Lane was talking to Paris and April by the patio doors. Karson and Gigi were in a group of the younger members of DAR. Lana and Cynthia were making sure all the food stayed stocked. While talking with a group of women that Rory recognized from the engagement party. When she was returning from the ladies' room, she heard someone ask Lana about the wedding preparations. "This is Rory and baby Em's day. Call me next week and we will talk about all the arrangements. Rory smiled, that was sweet of her,

When Rory returned to the throne, they moved chairs around so that everyone could see Rory. There was a table of gifts that had been moved closer to her. Lane sat in a chair next to Rory with a notepad. Lane was talking with Honor when Rory sat down. She leaned over to Lane and whispered, "where is momma?" Lane jerked her head around facing Rory. "She didn't call you?" Lane asked. "No, Lane, what is wrong. Is something wrong with her or Luke?" Lane shook her head. "Luke and Lorelai left for Nantucket yesterday morning. They will not be back until after Christopher and Lana's wedding." Rory just sat there, scratching her head. This does not make sense.

Before Rory could put much thought into it, Honor got everyone's attention. "For those that don't know me, let me introduce myself. I'm Honor Huntzburger Chase. I am sure you all know my Sister in law. Lorelai Gilmore-Hayden Huntzburger. That's a mouthful. Glad she prefers Rory. Rory is married to my brother Logan Huntzburger. It is time for Rory to open the gifts. Everyone received an invitation with specified instructions for gifts." Rory looked at Honor. The only reason she didn't fight Honor on gifts was because Honor guilted her. She told her that most of these ladies wanted to be able to tell people in the future that they were in attendance at Em Huntzburger's baby shower or they wanted to Honor her grandparents But requesting a specific gift made her feel like the gold digger Shira believed she was. "Everyone enjoy," Honor said.

Rory begins with the first gift. When she unwrapped it, it was a book. It was a first edition collector's edition of mother goose nursery rhymes she opened the book. Inside the front cover was a note to Emily Lorelai Huntzburger. Rory looked up and smiled at Bitty. When she flipped through the book, a card fell out. She opened the card. It was a card that acknowledged a donation in the name of Emily Lorelai Huntzburger that was given to the Johns Hopkins designated to BREAST CANCER RESEARCH. This is wonderful. Rory thanked her. She opened the next present. It also was a book with an inscription and a donation card. Rory all smiled. These are the gifts she could get behind.

Everyone enjoyed the shower. Goodbyes were said hugs, kisses, and well wishes by everyone. Rory was disappointed that Lorelai hadn't shown up. Especially after the talk, they had before Rory left for New York. She and Lorelai had talked a couple of times, texted a few. She didn't mention anything about Nantucket. She hoped this menopause wasn't more serious than she thought. Rory took a deep breath, put a smile on her face. " How can I help? She asked the group of ladies cleaning up. Cynthia told her to go lay down and take a short nap. "The car will be here in 45 minutes to take you back to the helipad. Rory did not argue. On her way upstairs "Is it possible to take the remaining cake back with me?" Cynthia laughed. It is already wrapped up for you to take back." "Is it okay for Karson to take your gifts to the Gilmore-Huntzburger manor?" "Sure. Be careful"

Meanwhile back in New York:

After the girls left for Hartford, the guys loaded up to go play golf at Westchester Hills. The twins were excited. When they got to the club, Logan rented clubs for himself, Ricky, and one set for the twins. When the twins found out they had to share, it didn't go over very well. Will was pouting. Chris keeps saying that he couldn't play if he didn't have his own clubs. Logan could tell that Mitchum was getting impatient. He was talking with the twins, trying to make them understand that it was possible to play golf using each other's clubs. "Logan, go rent a second set of clubs," Mitchum said. Logan looked at his dad, then at Josh who was helping his boys with their clubs. Josh just looked at him and shrugged his shoulders. "No, they can share or we can go home. That is up to them" Logan said standing up. Logan walked over to where his dad was standing, leaving the boys pouting. Logan and Mitchum started talking about the last time they played golf here. Logan could see the boys out of the corner of his eye. He started smiling when he saw them talking to each other. Logan nudged Mitchum's toe for him to look. Will and Chris walked up to Logan and Mitchum. "Daddy, we share," Will said. Chris said. "Maybe we get clubs for birthday?" Logon knelt down to their level. "Thank you for agreeing to share. We can talk to Momma about golf clubs for your birthday."

When they got to the golf carts, they rented 2. Logan, Mitchum, Chris, and Samuel in one cart. Josh, Joshua, Will, and Ricky are in the other cart. They only played 9 holes of golf then had lunch at the club. Mitchum went for a sauna while Josh and Logan took the boys to the indoor swimming pool. After the sauna, Mitchum went to the bar and socialized with the other members.

After about an hour Logan and Josh finally got the boys out of the pool and dried off. They went to find Mitchum. He had been bragging about his grandsons because when they walked in the first time Mr. Wilson said "Are these the boys you have been telling us about?" Mitchum smiled wide and introduced them all around.

When they got back to the penthouse, Mitchum, Josh and his boys left to go back to Hartford. Logan, Ricky, and the twins played video games the rest of the day.
