Chapter 97 Contracts and Maternity Clothes

Tuesday started just like Monday. When Karson returned from taking the boys to school, she told Rory to call her if she needed anything she was going to be downstairs studying. Rory nodded okay. Logan was in the office working. He called Josh last night and gave him the cliff notes on what was going on and what he needed him to do. He then talked to Honor. They agreed to meet Wednesday. Rory has a doctor's appointment with Dr. Burke. If everything is okay, she and Honor are going shopping for dresses to wear to Christopher and Lana's engagement party.

Wednesday morning, Rory was up and in the shower as soon as Logan got out. Logan stayed close to the bathroom, in case Rory needed help. Rory and Logan stopped for breakfast before arriving at Honor and Josh's house a few minutes before 10:00. The maid answered the door and showed them the way to Josh's office. Honor was in the office with Josh. Logan and Rory took a seat. Honor offered them juice.

Logan started at the beginning. Honor, Josh, and Rory were all familiar with the scam that Shira tried to pull with Cliffside and the Alezhemiers, so Logan just skimmed over it. He told about Thomas Waters climbing the fence and running through their yard. He told Honor about coming face to face with Shira at the police station. Everyone was familiar with bits and pieces of what Shira had done up to this point. Logan took a deep breath. Rory took his hand. He started with a call from the accountant in London. When Logan finished, Honor was in tears. Logan and Josh tried to talk with her. Finally, Rory took her by the hand and led her out of the room. When they returned 15 minutes later, Honor had calmed down.

"Are you ready for the next part?" Logan asked. Honor nodded. "Josh and I are going to meet with Shira. Josh has worked up a contract for her to sign. All she has to do is leave us all alone. I will set her up with a house of her choosing as long as the house is on the west coast. The budget for the house is 2.5 million. That includes any renovations or upgrades. I will set her up with an account with a service that will provide 2 maids, a cook, and a landscaping company that will handle the maintenance of the grounds and pool. This bill will be sent to me to pay.

They will all be paid a reasonable amount. I will set her up with an account with $2.5,000,000. I will find her a hedge fund manager to handle her money. This will be her money. I will have no control over it. She will be able to live the life that she was accustomed to. The only catch is that she can not step foot back in the states of Connecticut or New York. She is not to have any contact with the list of people on the contract." Logan looked up from the paper he was reading. "Honor, it is up to you and Josh. If you decide to be included in this list, Josh can add you." He looked back down to finish reading from the paper. "If she feels she needs us to know something, she will have the numbers to my security team as well as my personal lawyer. She can not in any way benefit from telling her story. To the news outlet, the yellow journalize. She can draft or have a PR Firm draft a statement to go in all the HPG papers. It will have to be approved by me. Anytime her name appears in any form of media, it can not be associated with any of us or HPG. Any little violation of this contact, I will file charges against her for embezzlement. I have the proof locked up." He looked up again. Looking into his sister's eyes. "Honor, I am sorry that it has come to this. I can not continue to let her destroy my life. I will not have my family living in fear of opening the door or walking to the mailbox." "Logan, I understand. You are a stronger person than I am. I believe what you are doing is best. Mom will not be kicked out in the cold. She can spin a story, telling everyone that she left Dad and we took his side. We will not talk about what happened and she will not talk about what happened." "Can anyone think of anything to add to the contract?" "Logan, I don't know if it is my place or not." Rory started. "Yes, you are a part of our family," Logan said. "On the east society, the name means everything. DAR, how far removed from one of the founding families." Honor was nodding and smiling. "I think you should offer her an additional million to change her name." Logan nodded and looked at Honor. "That's a good idea. Put that in the contract Josh." Honor said. "Then she can not be associated with the Huntzburger name." Everyone agreed. "I want to see the final contract. I think dad needs to look at it too." Logan said.

Logan looked at his watch. "Rory's dad and Lana are having an engagement party Saturday. I am sure you are aware." Logan smiled and Rory, then Honor. "I want to try to talk with her Sunday afternoon." Logan looked at Josh. "Will that give you enough time to get the accounts set up?" "I will need more time to get all the money transferred. We can talk to her Sunday. Give her until Monday at 5 to give us an answer. Put her on a plane Wednesday. Set up an appointment with a real estate agent to start looking at houses. When she has found a house, She will make a formal offer on it. While the house is in escrow, I will have the money transferred. Instead of you buying the house, I can transfer the money into an account for her and she can buy it. The house will be in her name. I will set up a contract with home service. They will provide the maids, cook, gardener, and pool cleaning company. You will only have to write one check." Josh explained. Logan nodded his head. He looked at Rory, then Honor. "Rory has a doctor's appointment to check her incisions. We need to go." Logan stood up and helped Rory up. "Word the contract so that she knows she has a budget of 2.5 million for the house. If she finds something less, the remaining money will belong to her." Josh nodded.

"Am I still meeting you for lunch?" Honor asked. Rory smiled and nodded her head. "If the doctor gives her the all-clear," Logan said.

Logan and Rory left Dr. Burke's office. Rory was smiling and laughing. Logan was looking forward to seeing if he would continue to kiss his ass, but Dr. Burke was not who they saw. They saw his nurse practitioner.

Logan dropped Rory off at Penny's on the square to have lunch with Honor. He was going to work out of his office uptown, while Rory and Honor looked for dresses for the Engagement party, the wedding, and Rory needed some maternity clothes. So far she was able to get by with Logan's dress shirts and leggings. She needed some Emily-approved clothes.

Rory and Honor finished lunch and walked to the shops on the square. They started with a maternity shop Honor was telling Rory about. They decided to shop for dresses for the party and wedding last. Rory was having fun. She was feeling better. She bought several tops and more leggings. She bought lingerie that she thought Logan would like. While they were checking out. Rory texted Frank to come to pick them up. When they exited the shop Frank pulled up and helped them with the bags. Rory had already got in the town car and was waiting on Honor. Honor got in the car and slammed the door. Rory was texting Logan telling him about the lingerie she bought. Honor slamming the door scared her "What?" Rory looked up from her phone. Honor was pale. All the color drained out of her face. When Frank got in the car, Honor told him to take them to Rory's house. Rory looked at Honor for an explanation. "Shira was parking her car at the hair salon. I didn't want her to see us. We can come back another day. We still have time. The party isn't until Saturday" Honor said. Rory just nodded. She wasn't a last-minute kind of girl, but she guessed she would have to make an exception.
