Chapter 76 Tell me about your day.
Logan and Rory are in the waiting room at Dynasty Makers, waiting to be called back for Rory's 23-week examination. Paris saw them in the waiting room and invited them to her office. "I have a few minutes. I wanted to invite the two of you to join Doyle and me Friday night. We are throwing a dinner party." Rory looked at Logan, "Sure, we can be there. Who have you invited?" Rory asked. "Madilyn and Louise are in town. I thought it would be fun to get together." "Oh, I haven't seen the two of them in ages," Rory exclaimed. "Who are they?" Logan asked. "Louise Grant and Madeline Lynn, we went to Chilton together," Rory told him. Paris started giving them the information on the dinner party, when Ashley, Dr. Boyett's nurse interrupted.
The visit with Dr. Boyett was the same as always except for Rory's blood pressure. She was advised to stay away from stressful situations. They got another look at the baby girl. As they were leaving, Paris stopped them to let them know what time. Rory assured her that they would be there.
Logan dropped Rory off at her car at the Hartford office. "I won't be late tonight. Do you want me to pick up supper?" Logan asked. "No, I saw Ms. Lewis making a shepherd's pie yesterday. I think that is what I want." Logan nodded. "Whatever you want my dear." Rory laughed as she kissed him and got in her car. If the traffic was light, she would make it home before the boys.
When Logan got home, Rory had supper in the oven. "Do I have time to change before we eat?" Logan asked. "Yes. On your way up will you tell the boys that supper will be ready in 5 minutes? They need to wash up. I think Ricky is down there with them. If so, ask him to help them. If he is not down there, tell them to come into the kitchen and I will help them."
When Logan returned to the kitchen, the boys were setting the table with the help of Karson and Ricky was removing the shepherd's pie from the oven for Rory. "Looks like the gang's all here," Logan said as they all took their seats. After Will said the blessing, everyone started eating. "Someone tell me about your day," Logan asked. "Well, since I spent most of it with you, I will tell the rest of the gang. I had a doctor's appointment today. Everything is good. Baby girl is doing fine." Rory told them. "But Momma needs to stay away from stress" Logan injected. "What is stress?" Chirs asked. "Logan means for us not to make momma mad," Will said. "Well, yes but stress means I shouldn't get upset, mad, sad, or disappointed. That is stress" Rory explained. "Mama, we will be good," Chris said. Will nodded his head in agreement.
"Okay, who is next?" Logan asked. Will and Chris both told about the girl on the playground that fell off the slide. They talked about the ambulance coming to get her. "Is she okay?" Rory asked. "What is her name?" Logan asked. Karson spoke up. "Mrs. Tedder said that she was okay. They took her to the hospital just to make sure. The boys were worried. So their teacher Mrs. Tedder told me about it." "Boys, who was it.?" Rory asked. "I will call to check on her before we go to bed." "It was Hadley Blake," Will said. "That is Caelan and Aerial Wilson's oldest," Rory told Logan. "I'll call and check on her after supper," Rory said.
Karson said. "My day was the same as any other day. I was in the student center waiting on Amanda when I heard some good gossip. Other than that, my day was the same as yesterday." Everyone laughed.
"Well, I went to work. While I was delivering the mail on the 23rd floor, I saw Shira. That's about it for my day." Ricky said.
"Wow, we are a group," Rory said.
After supper, Karson helped the boys with their baths, Rory and Logan cleaned up the kitchen and loaded the dishwasher. Ricky went back to the poolhouse to study. When Rory and Logan finished, they went to the living room to watch the news. They were cuddled up on the couch when Ricky came back into the main house. "Hey, sorry to bother you. I know you are resting, but Logan, can I talk to you in your office?" "Sure," Logan said as he got up. Ricky followed him to his office. "What's up?" Logan asked. "Well, I didn't want to stress Rory out, but I got an email from Aunt Ronnie. She said that the FBI questioned Melissa and She thinks they are going to arrest her. She said they are waiting on some test results. I guess maybe the forensic lab. I really don't know. She said that someone tried to break into Dad's house the other night. Aunt Ronnie is doing some renovations. She said the house reminded her too much of Dad. They are going to move in after summer." "Did the police catch who broke in?" Logan asked. "No, but Aunt Ronnie had some cameras installed. She thinks it is Melissa." Logan nodded. "She said that Her and Uncle James and Nick met Melissa at Dad's house a couple of days after the Will was read so that she could get the things that belong to her. Aunt Ronnie said there were several things that she tried to say that Dad gave her, but Aunt Ronnie said that some of it were stuff Grandpa left him. So Uncle James stopped her. She thinks maybe she came back to try to get them." "Does your Aunt Ronnie have any security guards riding the area, checking on the property? If she needs me to, I can call a security company that has done some work for me. They are based out of Tampa, but I think they have an office in Jacksonville." Logan asked. "She said she would call me tomorrow night. I'll ask her." Ricky said. "Okay. Thank you for telling me this in private. I will tell Rory." Logan said. He and Ricky started out the door when Ricky remembered something. "She also said to tell you to be careful. It wouldn't surprise her if Melissa showed up here." Logan nodded his head. "I'll take care of that before I go to bed.
Rory was in the bathroom, going through her nightly routine, while Logan was in bed with his laptop in his lap. Rory was rubbing in lotion when she asked, "What did Ricky have to tell you? I'm sure he was trying to spare me any stress" "Yes, he didn't want to stress you out. I told him I will let you in on what is going on." Rory moved from the bathroom to her side of the bed. She smiled at Logan with his glasses propped on his nose. "Well, tell me what he said," Rory said as she cuddled up to Logan. He removed his glasses and closed his laptop. Putting his arm around Rory as she and the baby bump got comfortable, he told her what Ricky said. He told her about Ronnie's concerns. Logan explained that he would be contacting his head of security. Rory agreed to have someone keep an eye on the house. Logan told her he changed to gate code. He emailed it to Karson and Ricky. The laundry room door also. Rory was not thrilled with the turn of circumstances, but keeping her family safe is what is important.
