Chapter 137 Happy Birthday Will and Chris
Everyone left bright and early Saturday morning. Logan loaded up the RV and away they went. Rory told Logan that she was going to miss spending all her time in the pool. He laughed. "What's stopping you?" She shrugged.
Everyone made it home okay. Rory went straight into party planning mode. Cynthia and Honor were trying to help. Rory and Logan had to decide on a full-time nanny also. Honor agreed to interview the nannies that the agency sent over. She was provided with a list of potential nannies. She started with background checks, talking with previous employers, but most importantly, she talked with her nanny and several nannies that worked for her friends. You can always get more information by talking with the nannies. She set up interviews at Rory and Logan's house. She would narrow it down to three. Then Logan and Rory could pick. Evelyn was back from her vacation, and Mrs. Lewis showed up with lots of food for the freezer.
While Honor was working on the nannies. Cynthia and Lorelai were getting the party decorations and mailing the invitations. Rory wanted to invite their friends from school. Ricky was back at work in Hartford and Karson was back keeping the twins entertained. Sometimes she even had Sam and Joshua. Jessi was always willing to help.
Logan was spending a lot of his time in the home office. He was getting ready to hand it over to Mitchum while he was on paternity leave. The boy's birthday was on a Tuesday. The party was on Friday. Rory has her 39-week appointment Wednesday. Honor has narrowed it down to three nannies. She was scheduling them to come back for a second interview Thursday. This is turning out to be a busy week.
Tuesday morning at 6:45, Rory crawled out of bed. She continued Lorelai's tradition. She would crawl in the bed with Chris. At 6:45 she wakes him up to tell him about the day he was born. Then at 6:51 she would do the same for Will.
Logan found Rory in Will's bed Tuesday morning. He woke her up so that she could be downstairs when the boys ate breakfast. Logan had taken orders for breakfast the night before. The boys sit down for breakfast and Logan brought them a stack of pancakes with a candle in each. Rory, Karson, Ricky, Logan, and Evelyn sang Happy Birthday to them. Then Karson scooted them off to get dressed. She and Ricky were taking them to Adventure Land for the day.
After they left, Rory decided to relax. She changed into her swimsuit and got into the pool. That is where she stayed most of the day. Cynthia and Lorelai both had been in and out of the house. It was nice not having someone at the gate. The gate remained locked, but they had the code.
Rory got changed before the boys returned. They were tired. Karson said they rode every ride that they were tall enough to ride. She said some of the rides made Ricky a little green. Ms. Lewis dropped a special dish for the boys. They love spaghetti. She also dropped off a gift for them. Of course, they wanted to open it right away. She bought them identical Lego sets. This way there would be no fighting. Cynthia and Mitchum, Lorelai and Luke all stopped by for cake and ice cream after supper. Everyone enjoyed themself. "How does it feel to be 5 years old? Think it's time to start shaving?" Mitchum asked. Will and Chris both laughed. "No, we got no hair on our face," they said. Everyone got a kick out of that. Cynthia gave them their gift from her and Mitchum. They opened it. It was clothes. They were not very impressed, but they said thank you anyway. Mitchum handed Logan a folder with paperwork in it. It was their Huntzburger trust. Rory and Logan both thanked them. Rory said it was not necessary, but she did appreciate it. "They got the same thing Sam And Joshua got. It is the same thing the baby Em will get." Rory again thanked him.
Lorelai and Luke gave them pool toys. They loved them. Lorelai also handed Logan a folder with papers. "This is nowhere near what Billy set up for them, nor what Mitchum and Cynthia set up. This is money for them to buy their first car." Lorelai said. Rory said, "Mom, this is too much." No, it isn't Rory. Both the diner and the Inn are doing well. This is some of the money Mom and Dad left. We have put enough money up to travel when we retire. This is extra." Lorelai said. We have done the same for Ashleigh and will do the same for baby Em."
By the time the boys went to bed, they fell asleep before Logan could read them a story. Rory and Logan went to bed shortly after the boys. Rory told Logan that she was beginning to feel some cramps. He wanted to take her to the hospital, but she told him they are just Braxton Hix. Her body was just getting ready to give birth. Besides, they had a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning.
Rory and Logan arrived at Dr. Boyett's office. Paris was waiting on them. She ushered them back to her office. They told her about their fourth of July adventure, and she told them about meeting a few movie stars while on set with Doyle.
Ashley came in to tell them Dr. Boyett was ready for them. She took her vital, asked if she was having any problems. Rory told her about the Braxton Hix. She made a note of it so Dr. Boyett could check her. After she returned from giving a urine sample, Dr. Boyett entered. "How are you doing today?" Rory smiled. I am fine. When just returned from vacation. I didn't have any problems. Yesterday I started having Braxton Hix. Just feels like mild cramps." Okay, let's check you out. You are at 39 weeks. Rory pulled down the top of her pants and pulled up her shirt. He put gel on her stomach and moved the wand around some. "Everything is measuring good, Her heart rate is good. Looks like she is in position." He turned the machine off. Rory goes ahead and changes into a robe. I want to see if you have dilated. Logan just sticks your head out the door when she is ready." Dr. Boyett said as he left the room.
Rory got off the table with Logan's help. She put on the robe and Logan helped her back on the table. Logan told Dr. Boyett Rory was ready. When he entered, he sat on the stool and told Rory to scoot down and put her feet in the stirrups. Dr. Boyett did what he was supposed to do to her lady parts.
When finished, he told her to get dressed and meet him in his office. Logan helped Rory get dressed. "I think I spend more time helping you get dressed than I do helping you get undressed these days" Rory laughed. "Get used to it. Six weeks after I give birth." Rory said. "I will mark it on my calendar. We will head to the Vineyard, just us." Rory started laughing, "You know that will be just about the time school starts." Logan's smile turned into a frown.
They knocked and entered Dr. Boyett's office. "Well, looks like you are about 2 centimeters Rory, you have done this before. You know that it could happen anytime. It could be this week or in two weeks. She is ready. So take it easy. No stress, rest as much as possible. I see here where you said the pool eases the strain on your back. Stay in the pool." He stood up. "If I don't see you before, I will see you next week."
When they got in the car, Logan asked. "What did he mean any day now? You are not due till next week. If the baby comes now, she will be early." Rory took Logan's hand. "No, babe, the due date is just an estimate." "We need to be ready. Do your mom and Cynthia Know everything there is to know about the boys' party?" Rory nodded. "Don't worry. She will come when she gets ready."
