Chapter 136 Mr. And Mrs. Mitchum Huntzburger
Everyone gathered at the SeaFood and More to eat Thursday night. This was their rehearsal supper. This time there was no need for a rehearsal. Cynthia and Mitchum will stand before a minister on the deck at the Huntzburge house on Martha's Vineyard. After the ceremony planned for sunset, they would have refreshments and dancing. Saturday morning everyone but Cynthia and Mitchum would be leaving. Jessi was going home with Honor and her family.
Friday morning the house was buzzing. Honor, Gig, April, and Karson were busy in the kitchen, Cynthia was running around checking on everything. Mitchum kept trying to get her to calm down. Finally, Logan said. "Dad, Josh, and I would like to take you to lunch since we didn't get to give you a bachelor party." Josh nodded. "Thank you, Logan," Cynthia said.
Logan, Mitchum, and Josh left to go grab some food and stay away from the house while the ladies were busy. After eating Josh and Logan talked Mitchum into playing putt-putt golf. Logan got lots of pictures. Meanwhile, at the house, the ladies were busy. Rory thanked Cynthia for calling Logan Tuesday when Lana showed up. The rest of the girls had not heard the story, so Rory told them. They all got a kick of Logan calling her grandad.
Logan, Josh, and Mitchum arrived about the same time Lorelai and her crew arrived. Rory was dressed, she hurried Logan and the boys up the stairs to get dressed. Lorelai told Rory that she gave them a bath, they just needed to change clothes. She had their clothes laid out on the beds. "Get dressed. Don't go downstairs without me or Daddy" Rory said. She hurried to their room to hurry Logan up. She had just about made it to the door when she heard Will and Chris arguing. She turned around and went back in. "What seems to be the problem?" "I want to wear the orange shirt. Chris always wears the orange shirt." Will said. "Okay, Chris, do you have a preference as to which shirt you want to wear?" She asked. "What does preference mean?" Chris asked. "It means does it matter to you which shirt you wear?" "No, I will wear the blue shirt. I like blue. It matches my eyes" Chris said. Rory just rolled her eyes. "Okay, is that settled now?" Both boys nodded their heads.
By the time she got back to the bedroom, Loga was out of the shower, had his pants on, and was drying his hair. She sat down on the bed. "I'm exhausted and the wedding hasn't even started yet." She said, Logan stepped out of the bathroom "Did you say something Ace?" Rory just shook her head.
When they made it downstairs the wedding was about to start. Josh was sitting at the piano. When everyone was seated, he began the wedding march. Mitchum and Cynthia walked down the aisle together. They stopped in front of the minister. He began the ceremony with scripture reading. The ceremony did not last long. After he kissed the bride, everyone cheered.
The reception was calm. Everyone enjoyed it. The kids headed to the pool and the adults sat around the deck talking. Logan asked Christopher when was the last time he heard from Lana.? Christopher just shook his head. "I talk with her every night, but it's just for a few minutes. She usually calls me. If she didn't, I don't know if I would call her." Christopher said. "I don't blame you after she tried to harass Rory," Lorelai said. Rory buried her head in Logan's chest. Christopher looked at her then at Lorelai. "What are you talking about Lor?" "I'm sorry Rory, I thought he knew" Rory shook her head. "No, I didn't want to influence his decision more than I already have." "Tell me what you are talking about," Christopher demanded. Before Rory could speak up, Logan's phone started ringing. He dug it out of his pocket. When he saw it was Dillon calling, he answered and told him to give him a minute so he could move to another room. Logan eased up from under Rory and took the call in the house.
As soon as he was off the deck, Christopher gave Rory a look. "I was in the pool, floating, with my eyes closed. Something came between me and the sun. When I opened my eyes to see what it was, I saw Lana. She told me she wanted to talk to me and then she walked off around the corner on the deck. I swam to the steps and had to get Cynthia to help me out. I went around to talk to her only to discover she had Carmin with her. She started demanding that I stay out of her business and not to advise you to divorce her. Cynthia must have called Logan because Logan showed up. Carmin smarted off, something about what we could do to her. Logan confirmed that she was Carmin Meredith, Edwin Jr's granddaughter." Rory stopped to take a breath. "People Magazine?" Mitchum asked. Rory nodded "Logan called him. They talked for a while, Carmin's face paled. Logan mentions his granddaughter, spoiled was a word used. Lana and Carmin left after Logan helped me up to go get back in the pool. Lana's phone was ringing as she was leaving. It was her grandad." Rory said.
"I'm sorry Honey. I guess I will get Herman to file the annulment papers Monday." Christopher said. "Dad, did she sign a prenup?'" Gigi asked. "Yes, but it still gives her quite a lot of money, unless she is cheating on me, then she gets nothing," Christopher said as Logan stepped back on the deck. "Christopher, I have Dillon on the phone. Can you come here please," Logan asked. Christopher got up to follow Logan. When he came back he was shaking his head. "Well, We are all family, so I guess you will be the first to know. Lana is cheating on me. Apparently, she has been with this guy for a while." Christopher said. "I'm sorry daddy," Gigi said as she got up to go sit by him. "It's okay"
Logan came back out on the deck. "Hey, I've got good news," He said. Rory looked at him. Lorelai said. "Yeah, we know, Christopher just told us." Everyone looked at her like why would you think that is good news. Logan looked at her confused. "Christopher does not know my good news. Interpol has arrested Melissa." Everyone was cheering and hollering. Rory was sitting on the lounge chair just crying. Her emotions were all over the place. She was feeling sorry for her dad, but happy because she didn't have to subject her children to her. She was happy about the capture of Melissa but scared she would somehow get away with it.
