Chapter 78 Saturday Morning.

Rory and Logan both were up early Saturday morning. They were in the kitchen sitting at the bar drinking coffee and juice. "Logan, I know that I usually only have 1 cup of regular coffee, but I'm going to need another cup if I am expected to stay awake today," Rory said. "Ace, 1 cup this morning. Maybe a cup at lunch, but that's all. It is not good for your blood pressure. The last thing I need now is for you to go into labor." Rory looked at him. She had tears in her eyes. She put her coffee cup down and went upstairs. Logan stood there for a few minutes. He was going over the conversation in his head, trying to figure out what he said to upset her.

He left the kitchen as Ricky was entering. "What's wrong with Rory?" Ricky asked. Logan shook his head. "I think I may have said something to upset her." "Don't you think you need to fix it?" Ricky said. "That's where I'm headed" Now Logan had to worry about Ricky being mad because he hurt Rory's feelings. "Stay in the house until I talk with security."

When Logan got upstairs, Rory was in the shower. He changed out of his sweatpants and put on a pair of jeans. He was sitting on the bed when Rory came into the bedroom from the shower. "Rory, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it the way it sounded. Please don't be upset with me." Logan said. "I'm fine, I know you didn't mean anything by it. My hormones have gone crazy." Logan stood up and hugged her. "I'm sorry," He said as he held her tight. Or as tight as he could without squashing the baby. The baby knows mommy and daddy are hugging because she chose that time to kick. Logan felt it. "Hey" He bent down so that he could speak to Rory's belly. "Stop kicking momma when I want to kiss her."

When they got back downstairs, Karson was feeding the boys. Ricky was on the phone. "Rory, are you feeling better?" Ricky asked. "Yes," Rory said with a smile. "Aunt Ronnie said to tell you hey and to take care of all the babies" "Tell her I will."

When Ricky got off the phone, Logan told the group that he thought today would be a good day to stay inside. "I think that Will and Karson should challenge Ricky and Chris to a video game tournament." Ricky said, "Sounds like fun, doesn't it, boys?" Logan nodded his head in thanks to Ricky. Ricky was texting on his phone while everyone was eating. He was texting Logan that he needed to tell him what Ronnie said. Logan looked at his phone and nodded. When he finished eating, he took his bowl to the dishwasher. "Ricky when you finish, how about meeting me in my office before you start your video war." Ricky nodded. Rory got up and put her bowl in the dishwasher. "I will join you too," she said.

When Ricky entered the office. Rory was sitting in Logan's lap at the desk. "Chair shortage?" Ricky asked. Rory laughed. "You know you have your dad's sense of humor." "I've been told." "Tell me what Aunt Ronnie had to say." "Basically, Melissa has left town. She said that Agent Stone contacted her Friday afternoon asking if she knew where Melissa could have gone. Said she is not at her apartment. They talked with a friend of hers and was told that Melissa went out of town and would not be back until Wednesday. Agent Williams is trying to track down where she would have gone." Logan told Ricky that he would call Agent Williams and tell him what happened last night. They all agreed. "Ricky, I really need your help keeping everyone inside today until we can figure out what happened." Before Ricky could answer the doorbell rang. Ricky looked at Logan and took off down the hall with Logan right behind him. They were trying to get to the door before Karson or the boys opened it. Ricky got there before Karson opened the door. "Let me get it. Keep the boys in the kitchen. Please." Ricky asked. Karson turned around going back into the kitchen. Logan answered the door. It was Andy and boss, Early. "Logan, Mrs. Huntzburger." Early said. "Is there somewhere we can go to talk?" He said looking at Ricky. "Yes, follow me to my office," Logan said as he started toward the hall. "Can I get you something to drink? Coffee? Water?" Rory asked. "Water will be fine" Rory left to go to the kitchen as Logan led them to his office. "Ricky, please join us," Logan said.

"Before you start, I want Ricky to tell you what his Aunt Ronnie called about this morning. She has been working with the FBI." Early nodded for Ricky to go ahead. As he was telling Logan and crew about the FBI not being able to locate Melissa, Rory entered the room with bottled waters for everyone. When Ricky finished, Early asked Logan about talking with the FBI agents. Logan explained that he has not yet talked with them. Early asked permission to call and talk with them just in case the incident last night has to do with Melissa. Logan agreed, handing him a card with Agent Stone's number. "I will call him and give him a heads up," Logan said.

"I will make the call after we leave. Right now I would like to tell you what we have found. I got a call from Andy at 11:18 last night" He was reading from his notes. "He informed me that the gate was open," Early said. "I knew that you and Mrs. Huntzburger was gone and that Karson and Ricky were in the house with the twins," Andy said. "After calling Early, I closed the gate and walked the property. There were footprints in the area of the playground. I called Early back and he called Howard and the dogs. At this time, I called the house phone. I was hoping that Ricky or Karson left the gate open, but I was informed they had not left the grounds since the Huntzburgers left. There were no deliveries at all." Andy told them. Ricky jumped in "That's when I called Logan. The twins were already asleep. Karson told me she was going to check on them. I told her to stay upstairs, I was checking the doors and calling Logan."

"The dog picked up a scent in the sandbox. Howard followed it to the back of the property. There is a picnic table up against the privacy fence. It looks like someone climbed over the fence. I took pictures before moving the picnic table away from the fence." Andy said.

"Do you know who did this?" Rory asked. "We are checking the cameras on some of your neighbors' property hoping to get a glance at a car or a tag." Early told her. "I have had a guy talking to the neighborhood to see if anyone saw anything. Most people are inside by 11:00 this time of the year. March is still cold at night." They all nodded. Logan stood up. Letting everyone know the meeting was coming to an end. "Early can I assume that you will have extra men here until we catch this person?" Logan asked. "Yes sir, I have also contacted the police. They will be doing extra patrol in this area. Chief Henry would like for you to stop by at your convenience and sign the complaint." Early told him. "I will, Thanks, I appreciate you keeping my family safe."

Logan stayed in the office most of the day Saturday. Karson, Ricky, and the boys played video games, board games, and even tag. Rory was set up at the dining room table with her laptop. She was working on some editing, but her mind was not into it. She called her mom and talked with her for a few minutes, but she couldn't bring herself to tell her about what was going on. She did not need the stress of Lorelai telling her this is the price you pay for high society. Rory finally gave up. She stopped by the office before heading upstairs to take a nap. Karson and Ricky were keeping the boys entertained.

She knocked on the door, then opened it. Logan was on the phone. "Hey, Tom, give me a minute please." He laid that phone down. "I don't mean to bother you. I just wanted to tell you that I am going to take a nap. Karson and Ricky have the boys entertained." Rory told him. "Yeah, that's why I shut my door. You didn't rest well last night. Go take a nap. When you wake up, we may have the mystery solved." Logan told her. Rory raised an eyebrow. "We are close. I'll tell you about it after your nap." Rory left, shutting the door behind her. She stopped by the playroom to tell them she was taking a nap and that she left some cut-up fruit on the kitchen bar if they got hungry. She also reminded them not to go outside or answer the door.
