Chapter 87 Logan leaves for London. A Laundry room upstairs?

Logan didn't go into the office on Monday. He needed to make sure he had everything lined up for when he was in London. He would sell the company before he left his family unguarded. He talked with Mitchum. He advised Logan whom to talk to in London as far as law enforcement. Logan also asked Mitchum to drop in on Rory as much as possible. He also called Christopher, he asked him to check on Rory while he was gone. He hoped to not be gone but for a few days. Logan decided to leave it up to Rory to tell Lorelai. Logan had been on the phone all morning. He had not even seen Rory. He heard the boys leaving for school. He looked at his watch, he had 30 minutes before his next conference call.

Logan left the office, headed to the kitchen. Ms. Lewis was in the kitchen preparing the meals for the week. "Ms. Lewis, I don't know what we are going to do around here without you." "Mr. Logan, you will be fine. I'm going to fill your freezer full of food before I leave." "You know the Chef we hired found a job in California. So I guess we are still looking." "Ms. Rory mentioned it to me last week. I have an idea if you want to hear it." "Sure," Logan said and he sat down at the bar. "I will keep your freezer full, just like I am now, but I will prepare most of everything at my house. Some things will need to be made here, as it will be more convenient. I will come in on my schedule to keep your freezer full. I may come in two days in a row and then not be back for two weeks." "Ms. Lewis, I will talk with Rory. I think if that will work for you, I'm sure we can make it work for us." "Thank you, Mr. Logan."

Logan left the kitchen and headed upstairs. He found her sitting on the floor of the nursery. The mural has been painted and the floors are done. All they are waiting for is the furniture to arrive. It was scheduled for Friday afternoon. Logan stood at the door watching Rory fold and unfold the blanket she got out of storage. She would smell a blanket or a tee-shirt, then fold it. She had several plastic bins laid out in front of her. "Hey Ace" Rory jumped. "Logan!" "I'm sorry Ace. didn't mean to scare you. I haven't seen you all day. I was wondering what you were up to." "Logan, I do not ask you to justify every minute of your day, so don't ask me to justify mine." "Woah. Ace, I was not asking you to justify every minute of your day. I just haven't seen you since I left the bed this morning. I was just wondering where my beautiful wife and daughter were. That's all." Logan said.

Rory just dropped her head to her chest. "I'm sorry" "No there is nothing to be sorry about. I know that your hormones and the baby girl are fighting for your attention. So am I" Logan said as he sat down next to her on the floor. "You know, I could bring the chair from our bedroom in here if you would like." Logan offered. "No, this is okay for right now. I'm going through the boys' baby clothes to see if any of them are usable for our baby girl. When I finish I will need you to help me carry them downstairs to the laundry room." "I can do that. Have you thought about how convenient it would be to have a laundry room on the second floor?" "Yes, every time I have to carry the boys hamper down these stairs to the laundry room." "Well, I think that you need to ask someone to carry the hampers downstairs for you. But I also think we should look into putting a laundry room upstairs." Rory nodded her head. That would be wonderful. Her mother would have a fit. A nanny, a maid, and now a laundry room upstairs. Maybe she won't tell him about it right now. "I like that idea. Do you think we can get it done before Em gets here?" I will start the research today. But while I have you on the floor, I have something else I would like to discuss with you." Logan said. Rory nodded, "Go ahead, it's not like I'm going to jump up and leave. As a matter of fact. I don't think I can get up by myself." Logan snickered. "I talked with Ms. Lewis. She proposed that she continue to fill our freezer. She will do most of the preparation at home. Some things she will need to prepare here. She wants to come in and leave or prepare meals in her time frame. She said she would keep the freezer full. She said she may come two days in a row, and not come back for a month." "If she is willing to do that, I would be so grateful. Ms. Lewis knows what we like and don't like." "Sounds good to me. When I get back from London, I want us to start looking for a maid/cook combo. Someone who can fix the boys a sandwich, or fry up a hamburger." "Okay, I will call the agency this week and set up some interviews. Now, help me up, I have to pee?"

Wednesday morning, Rory found a note on the mirror in their bathroom. 'Ace, I love you. Call me when you get up. I have a surprise for you.' L

Rory called Logan after she got out of the shower. Karson was handling getting the boys up and ready for school. She then would take them to school. Everyone is in agreement that Rory should sleep as long as she can. She had been having trouble sleeping at night. "Hey Babe, you wanted me to call?" "Good morning. Yes, I did. I am going to give you directions. Follow them to your surprise." "Logan you know I hate surprises" "No you don't. You love them. Where are you? The exact location inside the house?" "I am standing in the bedroom." "Okay leave the bedroom and head toward the last bedroom on your right." "Okay, I'm here." "What do you think about converting this bedroom into a laundry room? I talked to Tom. He will stop by today or tomorrow to look at the area upstairs. I emailed him the plans after talking to him this morning. Just show him the room and tell him anything special you want. You can put up cabinets. You can build a cedar-lined closet for your winter clothes" "Logan that is ridiculous. I don't need that. But we could use it as organized storage. I like that idea." Rory said, smiling. "I'm glad," Logan said.

Thursday morning Logan was up early. He had several things he needed to do before he left for London tonight. Bobbi set up his meeting to start Friday. He will fly at night, freshen up, then head to the London office. He was in the office when Will and Chris stopped by on their way to school. They wanted to tell him to be careful and come home safe. Logan knew that him flying to London would worry the boys. After the car wreck with Billy, they didn't want Logan to leave and not come back. Logan asked the boys to take care of their mother and mind her. He promised to bring them home presents from London.

Rory insisted that she drive Logan to the airport. They compromised. Rory rode with Logan as Frank dropped him off at the airport, then returned. When Rory went to bed Thursday night, she was worried. It has been a long time since she had a whole bed to herself. She didn't like it. She thought about telling the boys they could sleep with her. Then she thought that might make them think she was worried about Logan.

When Rory got up Friday morning, she had a text from Logan telling her that he landed and was in the office. She lay in bed for a few minutes, then remembered the nursery furniture will be arriving today. Tom also was expected. She needed to get it clear in her mind what she wanted for the upstairs laundry room.
