Chapter 120 Rehearsal Supper, but no Rehearsal
Logan came home before lunch Friday. Tonight was the rehearsal supper. Lana decided that there would be no rehearsal, just the supper. This concerned Rory and Logan. They both thought the boys needed to see how things would go. They were expected at the 'Ole Mill' at 7:30 for the rehearsal supper. Logan talked with the wedding planner, she agreed to meet them in the Rose Room at the country club at 6. She would be there making sure everything was set for the wedding. Rory called her dad and told him what they were doing.
Logan has also been talking with Christopher. Four of Logan's security team will be in attendance at the wedding. Logan, Christopher, and the wedding planner met earlier today to make sure the seating arrangement had security placed at the tables at each entrance. Lana had already told Logan that She and Christopher had security hired to walk the grounds during the wedding and reception. Logan told Christopher there would have to be at least 4 of his guys at the wedding and reception. Logan agreed that they would be tuxes so that they would blend in. Logan did not want to ruin the wedding, but if his pregnant wife and boys were going to be at the wedding, so was his security team. He needed someone he could trust.
The renovation to Evelyn's room was coming along. Rory and Evelyn had been looking at paint samples as well as furniture. Evelyn wanted to bring most of her furniture. They decided that after she moved in, they would take another look to see what she would need. The room did not have a kitchen. Evenly picked out a small kitchenette to go into her room. They decided to make it a studio apartment. Evelyn likes Karson's room. It was studio-style. It was one big room with a closet and a bathroom and a small kitchenette.
5:30 came quicker than Rory expected. If they were going to go by the country club, they needed to leave now. Rory had taken a nap this afternoon so that she would not be too tired. She slept longer than she intended. Logan came up the stairs to see how much longer Rory would be. She was just finishing up her makeup. All she had to do was put on her dress. Logan helped her into her dress, zipping it up in the back. Karson came up the stairs to tell Rory she was putting the boys in the car.
Rory, Logan, and the boys left the gate at 5:45. Logan thought that was pretty good being they were dealing with two almost 5-year-olds and a 31-week pregnant lady. Something told him that Lana would not think so. When they arrived at the county club, the wedding planner rushed through what the boys were supposed to do. It was agreed that Logan and Rory would sit close to the front of the room. Rory was pretty sure the boys would be okay. All they had to do was walk down the aisle and stand by Grampa.
Because the wedding planner had rushed, Logan and Rory were able to make it to the 'Ole Mill' before 7:30. Rory gave the boys some dried apple chips and sprite to eat in the car. Rory wasn't sure when they would get to eat. Logan and Rory helped the boys out of the car. They took off toward the restaurant. There was an old water wheel on the side of the building. It was picking up water and pouring it out the other side in the creek. The boys were fascinated.
When they finally got inside, everyone was standing around, mingling. No one was sitting at the tables. "7:30 is too late for cocktail hour," Rory whispered to Logan. He looked around. He smirked. "We were not invited to cocktail hour. It has been going on for a while." Logan whispered back. Will and Chris were standing next to them. They were looking for someone their age. Will pulled on Logan's pants leg. When he kneeled down. Will said. "All Mommys and Daddys" Logan scratched his head. "Yeah, buddy, I see, just stay close to me or mommy, okay?" Will nodded and took Logan's hand. "Will said only mommys and daddys. I say where is the flower girl" Logan asked. "I don't know, there are two of them. They are Lana's nieces." Rory said. "Did we misunderstand? Were we not supposed to bring the boys?" Logan asked. "If that was the case, why weren't we invited to cocktail hour?" Rory asked. She was looking around trying to find her dad. She saw Lana, but could not find her dad. "Logan, I need to find our table, I need to sit down. My feet are killing me. Did you bring your phone?" Logan nodded. "Let's find our seats. We can get the boys seated and give them our phones to keep them occupied. I don't want my baby born in a jail hospital" Rory said. Logan could help but laugh. That caused Rory to laugh, then she snorted. Logan was almost uncontrollably laughing now. "Stop it," Rory said. The boys were laughing too, but she didn't know if they knew what they were laughing at.
Rory spotted her dad. She waved him over to where they were standing. "Hey, kiddo. How are you feeling? You look wonderful." Christopher said. "Thanks, Dad" "Logan" and shook his hand. "And look at my handsome grandsons. Did you see the water wheel when you came in" He asked the twins. They nodded yes. "Hey, Dad, Do you know where our table is? I really need to sit down." "You are at our table, in front," Christopher said. "Come on, I will help you find your place. Rory followed Christopher. Logan was not far behind with the twins. When they got to the table, Christopher was looking at the nameplates, looking for their name. "Rory, here you are," Christopher said. Rory walked over to where Christopher was and he pulled out her chair for her. When she got seated she was looking to see which side Logan and the boys would be on. She found Logan's name to her right. She motioned for Logan to come to sit. When he got there she said. "Let's put the boys between us. That way we will be able to help." Logan agreed. He went to put Will in the chair next to Rory, He noticed the name tags next to him. It was not Will nor Chris. "Hey babe, are their name tags on the other side of you because these name tags belong to a Misty and a Tim." Rory looked at the name tags on the other side of her. She looked at Logan and shook her head. She stood back up. "Stay here with the boys." Rory left the table, looking for her dad or Lana. She couldn't find either one. Lana's aunt came up to Rory "Oh don't you look precious." She put her hands on Rory's belly. "How much longer?" "I'm 31 weeks," Rory said with a smile. "Do you know where my dad and Lana asked? I need to talk with one of them." Rory asked "Oh, sug, they are outside taking pictures of the wedding party. Maybe I can help you." "I don't know. I needed to sit down, so Dad showed us our seats. We found mine and my husband, but we cannot find my boys' places. I just wanted to make sure we did not misunderstand. Lana and Dad asked the boys to be the ring bearer, ''Was I not supposed to bring them tonight?" The lady's face went pale. "I..Let...I'll go check," she said as turned around and went out the side door. Rory looked back at where Logan and the boys were. The boys were sharing Logan's phone, looks like they were watching a movie.
Rory started back toward Logan when she was stopped by one of the bridesmaids. "Are you Christopher's daughter?" Rory had to step back, she was all in her face, you could smell the alcohol on her. "Yes, I'm Rory." "Your dad is so good-looking." "Thank you, I will be sure to tell him," Rory said, trying to walk away. The girl grabbed her arm, "No, No, you can't tell him." She giggled. Lana will be so mad. Last time I said one of her boyfriends was cute, we didn't speak for a whole year." the girl said again giggling. Logan walked up to Rory, "Hey, what did you find out?" Before Rory could speak, "Are you her husband?" the girl asked. Logan looked at her then at Rory. "Yes" "Wow, you are good-looking too. Oops, I shouldn't have said that" she giggled. Another one of the bridesmaids walked up. "I'm sorry. She got away from me ''''Come on Luna, Lana wants you outside to take pictures." they heard her say as they walked off.
"Logan, go get the boys, I think I want to go home. We will just tell Dad I wasn't feeling good and we couldn't find him to tell him." Logan nodded. He pulled the valet ticket out of his pocket and gave it to her. "I'll go get the boys, you go get the car."
