Chapter 56 Telling the Family

After Rory got home, she called 'Fung Chinese Restaurant', 'A-1 Pizza' and 'Monte Alban Restaurant'. Scheduled delivery for 6:30 tonight. Now that supper is taken care of, Rory decided it was best to take a nap. She grabbed her color and fabric swatches on the way upstairs. She had to make some decisions about decorations for the pool house. The decorator will be there bright and early in the morning. When Logan got home, this is how he found her. Asleep in their bed surrounded by fabric swatches.

"Ace, it's 5:30. Our guest will be here soon." Logan said as he kissed her cheek. Rory opened her eyes. When she realized what time it was, she jumped up in a panic. "Wah, Ace slow down. You have time. Don't get up so fast. Paris told you to take it easy." Rory laid back down. "Food will be here at 6:30. Where are the presents?" Rory asked as she sat up on the edge of the bed. "They are in the sitting room. Did you know Karson was back?" Rory shook her head no.

At 5:55 Rory was sitting in the living room with her feet on the coffee table waiting for her guest to arrive. Karson was on her way up and Logan was in the kitchen filling the ice bucket for the drink cart. The doorbell rang and then the door flew open. Two whirlwinds came crashing into Rory on the couch. "Mama, Mommy, I miss you." "Ohhh, I miss my babies soooo much," Rory said, laughing at the expression on their faces. "We are not babies" they both said.

"Hello kiddo" she heard her mom say. Rory looked toward the door to greet her mom only to see her dad and Luke coming in together. "Hey everyone," Logan said as he entered walking to the drink cart. "What can I get you? Supper will be here around 6:30." Christopher walked to the drink cart and asked Logan if he could help.

The boys started up the stairs. "Chris, Will, come have a seat." They turned around and started down the stairs. "What did we do?" Will asked. "We didn't do nothing. We ain't been home dumbutt" Chris said. All the adults in the room laughed. "Chris do not call your brother a dumbutt and the word is not ain't it is we haven't," Rory said. Chris just stared at Will.

"Okay, supper will be here soon. We have some gifts for everyone to open before the food gets here" Logan said as he walked to the table with the gifts on it. Logan gave out the presents. "Don't open them yet. Wait until everyone has a gift." Rory warned. She was talking to her mom and the boys. Her mom acts like one of the kids.

Logan had a seat next to Rory holding her hand. "Okay. Go!" Paper was flying everywhere. Lorelai was the first to get her present opened and screamed. "You're pregnant!" Rory and Logan were smiling from ear to ear. "Mother, give everyone a chance to open their presents" Will and Chris were not too happy. They were not sure about the baby presents. They wanted a present for them to play with. Karson was happy for them. Rory told her not to worry the baby will have a separate nanny to start with. That made Karson feel better. Lorelai, on the other hand, gave Rory a look. Rory just shook her head. She will deal with her mother later.

Most everyone was super happy for Logan and Rory. Christopher didn't let anyone know he already knew about the baby. He didn't want Lorelai to know that he already knew. Supper arrived shortly after all the presents were opened. Everyone talked while they ate. Discussing which room would be the nursery. Will and Chris had some questions. Rory and Logan tried to answer them so that a 4-year-old would be able to understand.

After they cleaned up from supper, Rory told them that she had some other news. Everyone sat back down. This time Chris and Will crawled up in Rory and Logan's lap. "Logan and I talked with Ricky while we were in Jacksonville. His mother is traveling and rarely home." Lorelai started shaking her head. Rory saw this but chose to ignore it. "He will be here Monday night. He is staying with us while he goes to college." "Will he stay in our room?" Chris asked. Rory smiled down at him. "No. He will stay in the pool house." Logan said. "Sex den, Sex den" Lorelai whispered loud enough for everyone to hear. Rory started laughing. Logan was giggling. Luke and Christopher had their heads down. Karson said. "Everyone seems to know about the sex den but me" Rory laughed "I will tell you later, but it all boils down to that is what my grandma Emily called the pool house when I lived in it." Karson smiled. "I bet that is a good story."

Karson took the boys up to get a bath. Luke, Christopher, and Logan were talking about last night's game. Lorelai, Rory and Gigi were talking about the nursery. Rory asked her about Louie and what happened. She told Rory she didn't want to talk about it now. She asked if it was okay if she came by later this week so they could talk. "I'm just still a little raw. The hurt is still too fresh" Gigi said. Lorelai keeps glancing at Rory. Rory could tell that her mother had something to say, but she really didn't want to get into it now.

It wasn't long before Christopher told Gigi it was time to go. Luke tells Lorelai he had early deliverers coming in the morning. Everyone stood up. Logan shook Christopher and Luke's hands. Both telling him congratulations. Rory stood up and hugged Luke and Christopher's neck. Both of them smiling and telling her how proud they are of her.

Lorelai remained seated. "Lor, are you coming?" Luke asked. "Yeah, in a minute. Go ahead and crank the jeep up. I want to talk to Rory for a minute." Luke walked toward the door while Christopher and Logan stopped in their tracks. Christopher knows Lorelai. She is not happy about something. Logan also realizes this could get worse. He did not want Rory stressed out. "Lorelai, Rory is tired, we have had a rough few days. Don't you think it would be best for Rory to go on up to bed? You and Rory can talk tomorrow. You can come help when the decorator gets here." Logan said as he was rubbing Rory's back. "Mom, I am tired. Call me tomorrow and we can talk." Rory said as she bent down and kissed her mom on the cheek before heading to the stairs. Lorelai stood up and just stared at Rory as she went up the steps. She turned her head toward Logan. "Don't handle me," Lorelai said to Logan. Christopher steps up. "Lor, I don't know what the problem is, but tonight is a night to celibate. Lorelai almost knocked Logan and Christopher down and she headed for the door. Luke was standing at the door. He heard everything. "Lorelai," Luke said, following her out the door.
