June came in with a gentle rain and light breeze. Paul had taken the triplets to their 9 month checkup leaving Tommy dozing on the porch in a huge swing chair. Paul kissed him on the cheek and started the car. Just as Paul drove off, the breeze picked up, causing Tommy to wake up.

He opened his eyes and looked around him. Somehow he stood up too quick and passed out, hitting his head on the edge of the porch railing and opening up a huge gash.

The rain had also picked up by now, blowing everything around. Tommy was half conscious at this point, not able to do anything. Closing his eyes, he passed out again. He found nothing but blackness around him. He thought he heard someone calling his name.

Paul had just pulled into the driveway and was waiting for the rain to let up so he could carry the girls in. Looking through the windshield, he could see a  gray shape on the porch where he had left Tommy. He jumped when Gene ran up and knocked on the window. Rolling it down, he saw Gene pointing to the front door.

Paul motioned for Gene to get in so he could hear him. "Tom passed out on the porch and cut his head open. He's inside in your bed. I had come over to check on him and found him like that. " "I carried him upstairs and got him cleaned up. Eric's at home so I'll help you get the girls inside and then I need to go."

Paul just nodded, not being over the shock yet. He heard Gene putting the girls down so he ran to the master bedroom. Tommy was in bed, a huge bandage on his forehead. "Baby? Are you able to hear me?"

Tommy opened his eyes and tried focusing. He closed them again quickly.

Paul sat down and held Tommy's hand. He could clearly see the bloody outline through the bandage. Gently lifting it up, he tossed it in the trash can and replaced it with a fresh one.

Gene poked his head in to tell Paul the girls were all asleep. "I can come by again later if you want me too."

"I'll let you know. Thanks."

After Gene left, Paul went to find a brush so he could brush the tangled mess of curls his husband now had.

He moved the girls into the master bedroom so he could take care of all his babies without having to leave.
