"Paulie," called Tommy the next morning, "let's go for a walk along the path."
"Are there racoons? Spiders?" questioned Paul.
"Ooh the big bad Starchild is a secret scaredy cat." laughed Tommy as he dodged a swat at his rear. He was still laughing when they headed out an hour later. Tommy had a small backpack containing water, snacks and a change of clothes for both of them. There were also towels.
Paul was vigilantly keeping on the middle of the path. He absolutely hated spiders. When he heard a rustling he shrieked and took off running. Tommy was trying to keep up when he heard a loud splash. "Paul!"
"I'm fine." came the reply. "I found the lake. Damn this water's cold!!!" "This is NOT my idea of a shower!!!!"
When Tommy finally rounded the bend in the path he found a soaking wet Paul. "I have a towel and dry clothes." He put down the backpack to open it. "Are you okay?" he asked after he finished laughing.
Paul reached for Tommy's hand and pulled him in. "Ha! That's for laughing at me all morning!"
They wound up having a water fight. Tommy went to climb out when he slipped and fell back in. Paul caught him before he hit his head. "Babe, are you okay?" Paul climbed out after Tommy was sitting on the path. Looking in the backpack, Paul pulled out one of the towels and held it up. "Get out of those wet clothes as quick as possible." He held it up while Tommy undressed and dried off. When Tommy was dressed, Paul stripped out of his clothes and dried off. After they were both dressed, Paul wrung the clothes out and wrapped them in the towels. Putting them in the backpack, he took Tommy's hand as they walked back to the cabin.
Once they were back inside, Paul started the fire while Tommy showered. Paul showered afterwards. They shared popcorn and a wine/cheese platter afterwards. "Tom, I love you. I'm glad you're enjoying yourself."
"I love you too and thank you for bringing me."
Much to Paul's delight the racoon didn't show back up the rest of the weekend.
