The Last Day of The Golfing

Tommy woke up on Sunday morning feeling nervous. He was sitting in spot number nine so he could go either up or down. Pacing the length of the hotel room, by the way he was the sole occupant, he felt nauseated. Sammy had been eliminated on Friday. Taking a deep breath, Tommy walked out on the patio and stared into the sunrise. 

"Tom, are you in here?" called Paul. "I came to see you."

The door opened and Paul walked in. He wrapped Tommy in a hug and held him. "I came to give you moral support."

Tommy was nervous. Paul could feel him trembling. "Baby, relax. It's gonna be okay." 

An hour later, Tommy was on the golf course. Paul stayed in the bleachers, following the scoreboard. An hour after the last shot was taken, the scores were up. Tommy was sitting in third. "Paul! I did it! I came in third!" "I won something!"

"That calls for dinner!" congratulated Paul.

Over dinner Tommy showed Paul his check for $10,000. "I want to put it in a savings account for the girls." "I can prove to them I'm not a failure and I can provide for them."

"Tom, wait. Why do you think you're a failure?"

"Paul, I missed almost all of the last tour so I got no money for that. I forget almost everything and I'm mentally unstable, that's why!" 

Paul took Tommy's hand in his. "You are not a failure. You are a wonderful, caring human being." "I love you no matter what."

Tommy squeezed Paul's hand and pushed the check towards him. "Please let me do this. I want to quit the band until I can be 100% again. I need too." 

Paul folded the check and put it in Tommy's pocket. "We should talk about this at home, okay?" He paid for dinner and led Tommy to the hotel. "Let's just enjoy each other's company and lay together." 

Tommy got another call later saying that a second check would be given to the top ten. The tournament had split the money that would have gone to players 11-60. He was to get $5000 more. He hung up and told Paul. "We can open the account Monday."

 Paul agreed to keep Tommy happy. He really wanted to prove to Tommy he wasn't useless.
