Eric loved all four of his children dearly but he felt something had gone wrong between him and Gene. Eric felt no desire to even be married to Gene anymore so he started making plans to leave. He had just finished packing his suitcases when the bedroom door opened. "Eric, I----" "Where are you going?"
"I need space." came the tearful reply as Eric took off his ring and put it on the nightstand. He walked away without a word, leaving Gene standing there in shock. As the door closed, Gene started crying. He sank to his knees and sobbed loudly.
"What the hell did I do wrong?" cried Gene. "Eric!"
The sound of four crying babies was all he heard. Picking up the phone, he called Paul.
"Paul, he left! Just walked away!" cried Gene. "I don't know what I did wrong!"
On Paul's end, he didn't know how to reply. Finally he managed to ask if he needed to come over. "Gene?"
"Yes." Gene whispered as he hung up.

Meanwhile Eric was driving around aimlessly, eyes filled with tears. He loved Gene but he also felt empty and betrayed. The betrayal because he felt Gene had tricked him into getting pregnant again too soon. Pulling into a hotel, he paid for a room and threw himself on the bed.
Crying himself to sleep, he didn't hear his phone ringing. Gene was texting and leaving voicemails. When he got no response he broke down even more. The last voicemail Gene left told Eric to just call him. "I love you!"

Gene finally fell asleep after the babies did. Paul left him sleeping to go home after awhile. He told Tommy what was going on.
