It was almost the halfway mark until Tommy's 9th month. He had found himself feeling moodier and less patient with Paul. When Paul simply asked for coffee creamer one morning, Tommy threw it across the kitchen nearly hitting Paul. "You always expect me to do everything for you! Get it yourself! I'm not your damned slave!"
Paul calmly picked it up and placed it back on the table. "I'll let you calm down before I come back in."
Just as soon as the kitchen door closed, Tommy started crying. "I'm sorry!"
Paul let a few minutes pass before going back inside. "Do you want to tell me what's wrong?" "I'm here for you."
Tommy shook his head. "I'm fine." he sniffled. "I didn't mean it."
Rubbing his back, Paul let Tommy finish crying before he hugged him. "Baby, go try to take a nap." "I'll bring you breakfast in a bit."
Tommy nodded and headed upstairs. He had just slid into the tub when his stomach started cramping. He curled up until it passed. Soon the warm water lulled him to sleep. That's where Paul found him a few minutes later. Gently bathing Tommy, he drained the tub before shaking Tommy awake long enough to dress him and carry him to bed.
"Paul? Is it time for rehearsal?" asked a sleepy Tommy. "I don' wanna miss it."
"No, baby. It's Sunday and you're in bed. You weren't feeling good, remember?"
"I can't sleep. My stomach hurts."
Paul gently rubbed Tommy's swollen belly and laid down beside him. "You're so tense."
Under his hand, Paul could feel Madyson moving around. "Hey, little one. Settle down."
Tommy suddenly gripped Paul's hand as another cramp hit him. He was in severe pain. "I-I-I-I think she's coming!" cried Tommy as he turned pale. "Paul!"
Quickly dialing 911, Paul held on to Tommy. "Sh, baby."
Tommy's screams soon were heard as the ambulance pulled up. "I'll be there as soon as I can get someone to stay with the girls." promised Paul.
As the EMT's took Tommy to the hospital, Paul called Gene at the same time he put a bag together.
