When Tommy was released 48 hours later, he told Paul he'd try to do what was needed to make his ulcer feel better. As soon as he arrived home though, his mood changed when he opened his mail. His credit card was on the verge of being cancelled, he had a pounding headache and the pain meds had worn off. Throwing the credit card bill on the floor, he shut himself in the guest room and cried.

"Tom, stop please. You'll feel worse in the end." Paul finally walked off and headed to the main bedroom. Picking up the phone, he called Pat to see if he would be willing to stay over for a few days.

After receiving an affirmative reply, Paul picked up the credit card bill and took it to the kitchen. He called the customer service number so he could make a payment . After getting everything taken care of, he made a pot of coffee and a pitcher of tea. The tea was ginger with lemon.

Taking it upstairs, he set it outside the guest room door and told Tommy it was in the hallway. "Baby, drink the tea, please. Take a long relaxing bath or shower and try to rest. I'll be in the kitchen if you want to come down."

About an hour later, Tommy came in wearing his pajamas and a robe. He carried the empty tea pitcher with him and set it on the counter. His eyes were red and puffy. Without a word, he laid o the bench and put his head in Paul's lap. Stroking Tommy's hair, Paul felt him start to relax. Soon Tommy was asleep.

Sliding out from the bench, Paul placed a pillow under Tommy's head and went to see if Pat had arrived yet. He saw him coming up the driveway so he closed the door and stood outside.

They talked for awhile before going back inside. Between the two of them, they managed to carry Tommy upstairs and get him into bed.
