"Tom, after dinner we need to talk, okay?" whispered Paul where the girls couldn't hear. He gently squeezed Tommy's hand as he was speaking to him.

"Is it about how I feel?" Tommy turned to Paul, his hazel eyes filled with pain. "I-I-I think I ---" Tommy went to his knees suddenly.

Paul hurried him upstairs to the bedroom and closed the door. "You had a miscarriage, didn't you?" "When?"

L-l-last night. You were asleep when I got up to take a shower. It was in there." "I didn't want to wake you." admitted Tommy. "I'm sorry."

Paul just squeezed Tommy's hand again, not needing to say anything. He  helped him to the bathroom in case he needed to throw up or anything. "I do wish you would have told me, baby." "Why do you think you have to do this alone?"

Tommy had no answer for that. He just threw his arms around Paul and held him tight. "I don't know. I just didn't think. I'm sorry."

"Sh, don't cry, okay?" whispered Paul. He rubbed Tommy's back until he was feeling better. "Hey, tell you what. You take a warm bath and relax. I'll get the girls to sleep and then I'll make us some snacks and we'll watch a movie, okay?"

Tommy nodded before returning to the bedroom for clean clothes. He was still cramping. Trying to ignore the  discomfort, he grabbed a stack of clothes and headed back to start the bath. Once he slid into the warm, steamy water he felt so much better.

Meanwhile, Paul had finished giving the girls a bath and was now reading to them. Once they fell asleep, he headed to the kitchen. He made popcorn, cut up cheese and fruit and poured some wine. In thirty minutes, he was carrying everything to the bedroom.

Tommy had just gotten dressed when Paul opened the door. He took the tray from Paul and set it on the bedside table. "You pick the movie."

Paul popped in the movie as Tommy put the bed tray over their knees. For the first time in awhile, he felt completely at ease.

Before drifting off to sleep in Paul's arms, he whispered, "I love you so much."

Paul slid out of bed after Tommy was asleep and cleaned everything up. The last thing he did before getting back in bed was write a song for Tommy telling him how he felt.
