Trying to Talk

Tommy pleaded with Paul to go back home and talk it out. "I'm carrying your child. I don't want a divorce! I'm sorry I ever cheated on you!" Tommy cried. He practically got on his knees and started begging. "I don't care that you're cheating! Just don't leave me!" He burst into tears.

Paul pulled him up and made him look at him. "Tom, I don't know how you found out but I'm glad you did. I know what I did was wrong and I shouldn't have done it. Yes, I tried forgiving you but it's hard." "I don't want a divorce either but I do want you to get help for the demons you're fighting. If you do this, I'll break it off with...."

Tommy nodded tearfully and rubbed his stomach as the baby kicked. "Do I have to go now?"

"I would rather wait until the baby comes." "Paul, will you introduce me to her?" "I want to see my competition."

"What?"

"I want to see her. If you truly love her like you say you love me, then I want to meet her."

Paul looked stunned. "Let me call her and you can talk to her."

Paul dialed and waited for a few minutes. After she picked up, Paul handed the phone to Tommy. "Hello?" he asked. "I'm Paul's husband and I just wanted to see if I could meet you."

"Husband?"

"Yes, we have three girls and I'm carrying his fourth."

"Could you please give the phone back to Paul?"

Tommy did and walked off a ways. He could hear Paul talking heatedly to the girl. After a few minutes, Paul motioned him over and took his hand. "She broke it off."

"I'm not going too." "I love you."

Paul couldn't bring himself to apologize so he just got in the car.

The drive home was silent. Finally they pulled in to the driveway and Tommy got out. "I can sense you need some time alone. I'm going to stay in a hotel tonight. "

Tommy packed for a few days and was headed to his car when Paul stopped him. "No, we need to start working things out."

"Alright."

The door shut as they both went back inside.
