Paul was freaking out the whole time Tommy was being loaded into the ambulance. He almost had to be restrained himself. "Bruce! He's gonna die! I can't lose him!"
"Paul, calm down!" said Bruce. "We will get him proper help. Okay?" "I promise." "We don't need two of you in the hospital."
Paul clung to Tommy's pillow and cried. He blamed himself for sending Tommy to the therapist. When Gene came in, Paul cried on his shoulder until gene had to carry him to bed.

In the hospital, Tommy was still unconscious. He was put on a breathing tube and an I.V. His arm was stitched up and wrapped. His right hand was also stitched up.
The doctor started a drip that would rid Tommy's body of all the pills and impurities in his system. He gave strict instructions to have the drip changed every three hours until Tommy was clean of all drugs.
The deep cuts began to bleed through the stitches, making Tommy weaker than he already was.
