Doctor's Visit

The next day Paul called Tommy's doctor to see if they could get an appointment. He explained what was going on. "Is it possible to see Tommy today?"

"I have one opening available at 3? Will that work?"

"Yes, thank you so much."

After Paul hung up, he called Gene to see if he and Eric would be able to watch the girls for a few hours. After being told yes, Paul went to get their things ready. He placed the bag in the car and went to wake Tommy. 

"I'm awake. I know, I have a doctor's appointment. You had the phone on speaker. " laughed Tommy.

At the appointment, Paul was asked to wait outside. He wondered why but sat in the waiting room. It took almost an hour for Tommy to come out. He was pale and clutching his stomach. Paul was asked to come in for a conference.

When he came out, Tommy was still sitting. He had been crying silently. Paul didn't have to say a word. He took Tommy's hand as they walked to the car. 

Finally Paul spoke. "I know you had a D&C. When we get home, I'm sending you to bed before I go get your medicine filled." "I love you and always will. We'll work through this together." 

When they got to the house, Paul carried Tommy upstairs and helped him into the tub. After getting him cleaned up and dressed comfortably, Tommy was tucked into bed and given a sleeping pill. Paul then hurried to get the medicine and pick up the girls.

The four little ones played quietly in their rooms as Paul got things ready for later. He made everyone dinner and made sure Tommy would have plenty of snacks for later. 

That night as Tommy slept, Paul put the finishing touches on the song he had written. He then signed and dated it before rolling it up and tying it with a blue ribbon.
