Tommy came down to the kitchen the Saturday after he had gotten out of the hospital. For the first time in a few days he felt pretty good. While he was making coffee, he started breakfast. Tommy knew how to make pancakes and oatmeal. Paul was the egg/bacon/sausage cooker.
"Hey, sweetheart, do you want eggs?" asked Paul from the doorway? "You're up early." "Did you sleep well?"
"I actually feel better this morning. Yes, eggs sound divine." Tommy slid a cup of coffee to Paul as he sat down. "Paul, I've decided to try out-patient therapy."
Paul almost choked on his coffee in surprise. "Really?" "That's wonderful."
Tommy went on to explain where and when he had scheduled it. Paul promised he would be there if needed. He and Tommy ate breakfast and then made a second one for the girls. Taylor and Hannah came down first. Aurora scooted down backwards and Mady sat at the top waiting to be carried down. While the girls ate, Tommy washed the first round of dishes. He then set them in the dishwasher and waited on the second round.
Mady was just beginning to eat finger foods. Aurora liked to be fed while Taylor and Hannah could feed themselves. Tommy fed Aurora while Paul was looking through the cabinets to see what they needed to buy. "Who wants to go to the store with daddy?" he asked.
Taylor and Hannah nodded their heads while Aurora signed her answer into Paul's hand. Mady usually did whatever her sisters did. After cleaning up and dressing the girls, the six of them headed to the car.
Paul let Tommy drive while he rode shotgun.
