While Paul and Tommy were in the hospital, Eric had moved onto the couch. He was pregnant again and was devastated. He had specifically told Gene he did not want any more kids until the twins were at least four. Now he was six months along.
Gene tried every day to coax Eric into talking about it but all he got was silence. "Eric, baby, I take full responsibility. I love you and I hate seeing you hurt so much. Please talk to me." begged Gene.
Eric turned away, his blue eyes filled with fresh tears. He finally broke down and bawled. "Gene! We are having another set of twins! I can't! I just can't!"
Gene bit back his shock as he held Eric close. "Sh, we'll get through this together. We are a team, okay? I love you."
The two of them shed several tears until Eric finally let Gene take him back to their bedroom. "I'm going to treat you so royally you'll want to stay pregnant all the time."
"Ha! NO!" cried Eric. He rubbed his swollen stomach and shed more tears. "NO more after this!"
Gene agreed as he ran Eric a warm bath. It dawned on him that they would have the twins in September, one month before the older set's 1st birthday. He almost passed out.
Calling Paul to tell him, he heard Paul start laughing and hung up.
