"Paul, may I hear what you recorded?" asked Tommy. He had been wondering what Paul had heard and what hadn't been said but implied. He awaited the answer. He wondered if his ex had confessed to the Dublin incident.

Paul had Tommy sit in the bedroom and listen. Before he turned on the recording, he told Tommy to listen all the way through and then ask questions. "I only asked the ones I wanted specific answers to."

Tommy agreed and then asked Paul to close the door. He heard the two men's voices and bit his lip. The one doing most of the talking was smooth and mellow, just like he remembered. "No, I won't fall for it." "I WILL NOT let him get to me."

Finally the dreaded question was asked. When Tommy heard the answer, he was shocked. "That's not what happened!" he exclaimed. "I did not come on to you!"

Paul came back in just about that time. "I told you it's only one side." "I know what I saw, baby. I believe you."

"I didn't undress at the pub! I know I was drunk but I wouldn't have done that!"

"Sh! I know. You'll barely undress in front of me and we're married."

Paul went to comfort Tommy. He held his young husband close and rubbed his back. "I believe you."

The recording clicked off, leaving the two of them in silence. Tommy sniffled but held his tears.
