Two weeks had passed and Tommy could now go out unsupervised for six hours at a time. He usually stayed in the library but this time he wandered outside. He was surprised to see the rain, as he had a limited view from his window. He was now answering in complete sentences.
The nurse found him sitting in the garden under a tree. He had his eyes closed, back against the trunk listening to the rain. "Mr. Thayer? Your husband is here."
Tommy opened his eyes and saw Paul standing there. "Hey."
Paul sat down beside him. "You look a lot better, sweetie. How are you feeling?"
"I'm healing-physically at least. I haven't cut in three weeks."
Paul smiled and kissed Tommy on the lips. Against his skin, he murmured, " I miss you so much." "I can't wait for you to be able to come home for good."
"I can't either. " Tommy suddenly rubbed his stomach wanting chocolate. "I suddenly crave chocolate."
Paul nearly fainted because the only time Tommy craved anything was when he was pregnant. "You crave chocolate or do you just want some?"
"I crave----Oh my!" said Tommy. "I mean I just want some. There's no way I'm pregnant." he managed to get out.
Puling Tommy to his feet, Paul hugged him tightly. He felt no bump or anything. "Do you want a Hershey Bar?"
"Yes!"
Tommy devoured it, only to throw it all back up. "Sorry, still can't eat full meals yet."
Paul was now very suspicious but kept quiet.
He texted Gene as soon as he got home.
