When you reached the gates where you first entered the barbarian camp, the lookouts opened the towering doors for you to leave, and the three of you strode out into the great expanse of the Arechi desert.

You scanned the horizon, squinting through the heat fueled mirage to look for any hint of the rainforest Sero had mentioned the night before. You didn't remember seeing any form of vegetation last time you were outside the village, but you weren't exactly paying attention to the landscape when you had been kidnapped by the prince. However, as your eyes roamed from left to right, they saw nothing for miles in every direction; just undulating dunes of sand which were in a constant motion as the wind swept across the vast desert.

Kirishima jogged ahead a few paces and transformed into the same huge red dragon you'd seen before. It was a strange sight to behold as his body morphed and grew into the large scaly beast you'd seen before. He had tough thick skin covered completely in smooth crimson scales which almost seemed to glitter under the bright sun's rays. From the top of his head, above his vibrant yellow eyes, sprouted two golden horns and a row of sharp scarlet spines ran down the middle of his back shrinking as they reached the nape of his neck. He turned his giant head towards you and you could picture the grin he would be giving you in his human form as he waited expectantly for your admiration at his ability. Though in his dragon form he didn't seem able to smile or speak, instead grunting and bowing his head as the prince strode towards him.

Kirishima extended his foreleg towards his master and Bakugo climbed up his arm, stepping over his shoulder and onto the middle of his back before turning to help you up behind him. You tentatively made your own less than graceful way up his leg and grabbed Bakugo's hand when he offered it to stop yourself sliding back down the smooth scales.

Bakugo made it look effortless, but climbing up a dragon was probably the strangest thing you'd ever done. You expected his scales to be rock solid and feel like stones under your feet, however they were anything but sturdy. They were surprisingly flexible and you could feel the soft flesh beneath move as you stepped over it. It was hard just to maintain your balance as you followed Bakugo up to the row of spines running down Kirishima's back, and his whole body shifted with each breath making it harder still to maintain your footing.

Bakugo of course took all of this in his stride and settled himself effortlessly at the base of Kirishima's neck where the ridge of spines stopped and straddled the gap between the last pair using the smallest spine as a sort of pommel horn in front of him.

You sat behind him, nestling yourself between the prince and the spine behind you. For some reason you expected riding a dragon to be no different to riding a horse, but you were very wrong in that assumption. Unlike Bakugo who clearly had a handle on the spine in front, you weren't exactly sure how you were expected to hold on, there weren't any reins or any stirrups to secure yourself in place, and you were beginning to dread the idea of taking off.
