Pesci and Formaggio are the most lenient. Although Formaggio is sadistic it only becomes a game of harming you when you're trying to start problems or ruin his mood. He's never itching to beat you or make you cry, you just have it in your mind that he'll take your mess when that's not the case. Formaggio isn't expecting you to be perfect and just go along with what he's doing, he knows he's unhinged and is probably the last person you want to be with. So you aren't going to get a lecture or be beaten for small things, when you're whining about this crazy situation he may tease you but he isn't going to hurt you.
Pesci asks that you don't get violent or try to leave without his permission. Other than that you're still allowed to be human and express yourself, you don't have to pretend to be someone else! He has the empathy and patience to allow you to move at your own pace. You won't feel rushed or forced to settle for the sake of avoiding a brutal beating, it's almost scary how soft and gentle he is towards you. Both of them allow you to do almost anything you'd want outside of leaving them, so long as you're not running away. The punishments only come when you're being too difficult and continue to ignore the countless warnings.
