Don't play favorites because you'd hate it if they started doing the same. That's why they're nice enough to not treat you like an object. So you must be planning an escape. This time using them as pawns, hoping they're eager to win your love at the expense of the other. They could be wrong, but how can they not see it as an underhanded attempt at causing division? You're still bitter about the whole situation even though you try to hide it.
Because they're different when it comes to showing their love they aren't tallying up the number of times you've cuddled with sorbet, sat in his lap, or draped yourself over him while watching a movie. Gelato could care less about that. It's to be expected since Sorbet loves physical affection and closeness. They care about you intentionally avoiding the other, refusing to be alone with them, and acting like you can't speak unless your favorite is around. It's an obvious show of distaste compared to the clinging.
Don't think they didn't realize that you were suddenly bold enough to ask for quality time. Wanting to follow your favorite as he did literally anything. Just a week ago they had to make you eat lunch with them. Now you're leaving the house to watch them run errands, sitting near them as they enjoy their hobby, etc. You're not slick and you definitely not going to get the reaction you want from the other.
They continue as if it didn't happen because you're bound to have your petty moments. You're human and in a messed up relationship, so they'll give you a bone. But the one time was simply a courtesy. The next time, you're met with harsh rejection. They push you away when you seek them out, not roughly but you can't mistake it. When you try to be alone with them they make a show of inviting the other. Talking as if you're not there and speaking around you whenever you're in the room.
Don't let your birthday be close because they'll spend the days leading up to it celebrating their love for each other. Then treat your birthday like it's Valentine's or anniversary. You won't get a gift or any indication that they know it's your "special" day. It's spent being the third wheel and watching the pair profess their love a hundred times over. Anything to make you feel alone or awful.
