People have scars in all sorts of unexpected places.

Like secret roadmaps of their personal histories...

After the incident with the ferry boat crash, Mallory Shepherd decided to make it official that she and Alex Karev were living together. She gave him a key to the apartment, and they began to put his belongings into the apartment, moving them out of the spare bedroom where they had been stored previously.

They began to hang up some of Alex's things in the living room, including pictures of him when he was younger with his siblings, and items that were dear to him. As Mallory went through the boxes, she found an Iowa Hawkeyes t-shirt and put it on.

She turned to him as she wiggled her brows. "How do you think I look?"

"Hot," Alex told her with a smirk. "But is that even a question?"

Suddenly, they were interrupted by a loud knock on the door. Mallory's brows furrowed as she went to see who it was. She looked through the peephole and saw that her sister Kathleen was standing outside, and her eyes went wide.

"Oh my God," Mallory breathed out. "My sister is at the door."

"Which one?" Alex asked in reply, not seeming phased in the slightest. "Nancy ended up being cool."

"Well, this one is nowhere near as cool," Mallory shot back as she began to pace. "This one is Katie, the psychiatrist. You need more than just a tank top. Here."

Mallory quickly tossed a shirt his way and looked at herself in the mirror, trying her best to look the most presentable as she possibly could. Soon, Kathleen knocked for a second time, and she rushed to the door.

"It's about time you answered the door. I thought I might be waiting forever," Kathleen spoke with a shake of her head. "Don't you know how worried we've been?"

"Oh, I can only imagine."

"This is not the time for sarcasm, Mallory Claire," Kathleen told her in a stern tone. "Addison calls, says that Derek's a mess and tells us to prepare ourselves."

"God," Mallory groaned, hanging her head back. "I'm fine, Katie."

Her sister chuckled as she nodded. "And now you say you're fine. Believable story."

With a roll of her eyes, Mallory turned and walked back into the living room and groaned. "You know, I don't know why you flew across the country when you could've just called. I'm not Derek. I answer my phone."
