As surgeons, we are trained to fix what's broken.

The morning before their shift, Mallory Shepherd and Alex Karev were at their apartment. They both were already dressed and ready for their day as they argued in the kitchen while drinking their coffee.

"You know, I've been thinking about it a lot since last session," Mallory started, eyeing her boyfriend while she spoke. "I don't need to see the therapist at the hospital anymore—"

"But you're the only one that thinks that, Mal," Alex interrupted with a shake of his head. "You can't just quit seeing your therapist."

"Why? I shouldn't have even agreed to talk to her in the first place," Mallory argued back, crossing her arms against her chest. "I'd rather talk to Katie about this stuff. Did you hear me? I'd rather talk to Katie."

"Since when do you hate the therapist at the hospital?" Alex questioned, letting out a deep breath. "I thought it was helping, even you said that it was helping."

Mallory shrugged her shoulders in response while she retorted. "It helped when I first started talking to her. But that was before I talked to Violet and Wilder. And, she's a complete stranger that I'm talking about my life with—"

Alex let out a sigh, seeing that she was insistent on no longer seeing the therapist, and he knew that arguing wouldn't be effective. "Okay, fine. If you say that you're fine not talking to her, fine. But you at least have to talk to me."

"About what?" Mallory asked with furrowed brows. "We've talked about our feelings, I think, since everything happened, we are thriving—"

"You only use that word when you're sugarcoating things," Alex reminded her before she had a chance to continue. "It's okay if you're still upset and whatnot about what happened. That's normal."

The breaking point is our starting line. At work.

With a loud groan, Mallory turned around to face him, and she stressed. "Except that I'm not. When I started talking to Violet again, it really helped. Plus, I knocked some sense into myself when I hit my head on the bar."

"That's not funny, and you know it."

"Yeah, I know you're right," Mallory chuckled in response. "But you love me anyway."
