In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. At least, that's what they say.
He created the birds of the air and the beasts of the fields, and he looked at his creation and he saw that it was good. And then God created man.
And it's been downhill ever since.
The next morning, before their shift, Mallory Shepherd and Alex Karev were over at Meredith Grey's house. Alex sat in the kitchen with Derek and Meredith while Derek went over blueprints of the house he wanted to build.
The story goes on to say that God created man in his own image, but there's not much proof of that.
After all, God made the sun and the moon and the stars, and all man makes is trouble...
"It's a classic Victorian design with an open floor plan," Derek explained with a wide smile. "What do you think, Karev?"
"Uh, I think it's nice," Alex nodded along. "The floor plan is open."
His girlfriend's brother rolled his eyes in response as he turned back to Meredith, who was cracking eggs into a bowl. His brows furrowed as he questioned. "What are you doing?"
"I'm making omelets."
Derek nodded, accepting her answer as it was before he asked. "What do you think of the house? All I've got is Karev's opinion, which isn't much."
"The house?" Meredith bit her lip as she thought about it. "I think the house is great."
"If you don't like it, you can tell me," Derek insisted, trying to get more out of her than a simple answer. "It's gonna be your house too."
Just then, Meredith dropped one of her eggs on the floor. She stared at it for a moment, accepting her defeat as she muttered. "Damn."
"Mer, no offense, but I don't think I've ever seen you cook," Alex started, eyeing his friend, who narrowed her eyes at him. "Shouldn't you ask Izzie to make breakfast? Especially if you want people to eat?"
"You don't even like Izzie," Meredith scoffed in reply. "You can't ask her to make you breakfast."
"Uh, sure, I can," Alex raised a brow. "I can when the other option is whatever you're making."
