Our entire lives, we are preached to about the dangers of keeping secrets.

The next morning, Mallory Shepherd invited Callie Torres and Lexie Grey over to her apartment once Alex Karev was away at work. All of them were surprised that they managed to keep the pregnancy a secret from everyone, but Callie and Lexie were unsure of how much longer they should.

At the dining table, Lexie ate chips from a bowl while she spoke. "Mallory, it has been long enough. Alex knows that something is up."

"No, he does not—"

"He does," Lexie insisted, not even letting her finish her statement. "And he's already thinking of who to interrogate first, and he's going to choose me. He knows that I'm the easiest to break."

"Lexie, you have to have some confidence," Callie retorted with a shrug. "Right now, he knows nothing."

Lexie raised a brow while she crossed her arms against her chest. "Do you seriously think he knows nothing? He absolutely knows that something is up and that we know what it is. Do you think he's stupid?"

"Okay, she does make a good point, Mal," Callie sighed as she turned to her friend. "He's not stupid; he knows you."

"I know, okay?" Mallory laid her head down on the table in response. "I almost did it the other day, I swear. I was almost telling him, but then I couldn't. Then we got into an argument—"

"A fight?" Callie's brows instantly furrowed. "You didn't tell me about that. What happened?"

By our families, by our friends, by ourselves. We remind ourselves that once you tell one lie, you are forced to tell a series of more in order to keep your lie solid.

"He knows that I'm hiding something," Mallory explained in the simplest of words. "I just, how am I supposed to tell him? I feel like every time that I even think about telling him, the words won't leave my mouth."

"I told you!" Lexie stood up from her chair with a pointed finger. "I told you that he would notice."

"Do you think that's what I need to hear right now?" Mallory narrowed her eyes in response. "I could use your support, Lexie."

"I have given you support. Callie has given you support," Lexie started to raise her voice. "We're running out of support, Mallory."

Callie raised her hand, stopping her two friends from arguing any further. She nodded her head slowly as she decided. "Okay, look, Lexie's right. You can't lie to him anymore, Mal. How about you tell him by the end of the day?"
