You never know the biggest day of your life is going to be the biggest.

The days you think are going to be big ones. They're never as big as you make them out to be in your head.

It's the regular days...

The ones that start out normal...

Both Mallory Shepherd and Alex Karev were up early the next morning. They got ready to go to the hospital after Alex had asked Arizona Robbins to do them the solid of running the blood work and doing the first ultrasound, and just as she said she would, she agreed. But the two residents couldn't help but be terrified for the appointment, fearful that anything could go wrong at any moment.

Mallory stood at the coffee pot, anxiously tapping her foot as she poured them both a cup of coffee. But to her surprise, Alex took them both, making her furrow her brows and yell out. "Hey! One of those is mine."

"Haven't you read the risks that coffee has on pregnant people?" Alex pointed out with a raised brow. "Dude, it's crazy. You wouldn't be drinking it either if you read them."

"It is one cup of coffee, Alex," Mallory argued, trying to reach the cup that he held in the air. "I'm sure that I'll be fine."

"That's not what the articles say," Alex was quick to retort. "You could always ask Addison, she'll back me up."

She glared her eyes in response, knowing that it would be a long nine months of him using Addison as backup. "What am I supposed to drink? I have a cup of coffee every single morning— No, how do you expect me to get through my shift?"

"You'll be fine," Alex insisted as he set the coffee back on the counter. "If you want to ask Robbins, I'm sure she's dealt with a lot of moms of kids dealing with the same thing."

"She's a pediatric surgeon, I don't need her opinion. We're lucky that she's running the blood work and whatnot," Mallory replied, starting to tap her finger on the counter. "How much longer until we have to leave?"

"Still half an hour," Alex answered as he looked up at the clock. "Have you been feeling different? Are you sure that it's you know?"

All Mallory could do was shrug her shoulders as she poured herself a glass of orange juice and explained. "I've been getting nauseous, and you saw the test. I just thought I was stressed, I mean, between Derek's downspiral and Izzie having cancer, one would assume it's stress."
