Being chief is about responsibility. Every single surgical patient in the hospital is your patient, whether you're the one who cut them open or not. The scalpel stops with you. You need to be able to look at a family...
And tell them your team did everything they could to save someone's child...
Their husband...
Their wife.
You get caught up, taking care of other people's families. And the responsibility it makes you...
You take care of other people's families, and you sacrifice your own.
Throughout the night, Cristina Yang's bachelorette night continued. The surgeons drank lightly and played the wedding games that Izzie and Meredith had come up with, and overall were having a good time, to everyone's surprise.
"I thought I was gonna hate this party game thing, but it's kinda great," Cristina admitted with a smile, as she pointed to a paper bouquet. "Can we set this one fire later?"
"No, we cannot."
Callie wrote vows on Cristina's hand, and the more she wrote, the more she realized it would not fit entirely on her hand. "Okay, these wedding vows are not all gonna fit on here."
Cristina shrugged her shoulders as she insisted. "Then write smaller."
"So," Mallory spoke up as she watched her friend continue to write with a permanent marker. "How do you expect your vows to stay on your hand all day long?"
Meredith let out a laugh, which made her best friend narrow her eyes as she explained. "You act like she'll be scrubbing in. What? You know I'm not lying."
"Be still, please," Callie asked with a stern tone. "Because vow just became cow."
"You don't need vows on your hand," Izzie tried to tell her with a shake of her head. "When you get there, just speak from your head."
"Uh, Izzie, the heart is an organ," Cristina stated as if it were obvious. "It pumps, it circulates blood, it gets clogged from time to time. It does not, however, speak. It doesn't have tiny little lips on it, okay?"
