As doctors, we know everybody's secrets. Their medical histories, sexual histories, and confidential information that is as essential to a surgeon as a 10-blade. And every bit as dangerous. We keep secrets. We have to. But not all secrets can be kept.

The next morning, Alex Karev paced around the apartment while Mallory Shepherd slept in the bedroom. After he had gotten home from the bar the night before, he had left the ring in one of his drawers, but he knew that Mallory was bound to stumble across it. Yet, he still had no idea where to put it.

He searched through different places, determined to find a good hiding spot, but everywhere that he thought of was too discoverable. So he just stood in the center of the living room, looking around in circles.

The sound of the front door opening made Alex jump, thinking that it was the bedroom door, but it was only Callie Torres, with a tray of coffees in her hand. She squinted her eyes as she said. "Uh, hi. What're you doing?"

Alex had the ring in his hand that he kept behind his back, glancing around as he dismissed. "Nothing, nothing. And would you keep your voice down?"

"It doesn't look like nothing," Callie replied, noticing that he wouldn't take his right hand out from behind his back. "What's in your hand?"

"Would you quit asking so many questions?" Alex whisper-shouted at her. "Jesus."

"You know," Callie raised a brow, smirking as she stated. "I am not afraid to start yelling, wake up Mallory, so I can ask her what you're doing. If that's how we want to do this."

He narrowed his eyes at her as he told her. "I hate you, you know that."

"Come on, what are you doing?" she questioned again, crossing her arms. "And why can't we tell Mallory about it?"

"Do you swear not to say anything?" Alex asked her, looking her in the eye. "Not a single word."

Callie's smile widened as she said. "Oh, this sounds serious. Is this serious?"

From behind his back, Alex brought out his hand and showed Callie the two rings Addison had given to him, both of them still in the box. A look of excitement took over her face, and her jaw dropped.

She started to exclaim. "Oh my God—"

"Would you shut up?"

"I'm sorry, what did you expect to come out of my mouth when I see a ring?" Callie asked him, keeping her voice down. "A ring that huge. Where did you even get the money for that?"
