At Mallory Shepherd's apartment, she and Alex Karev were up early in the morning while George O'Malley was still asleep in the spare bedroom. They stood in the kitchen, kissing one another in the corner, savoring their alone time while they could.
"Why can't you just get rid of O'Malley?" Alex asked with a hopeful tone. "I'm sure Burke would take him in, or he could just move back to Meredith's."
"I can't just tell him to leave," Mallory responded instantly. "He's hurting, Alex. We're supposed to help him get back on his feet. We're his friends."
"You're his friend," he chuckled as he kissed her neck. "I'm your friend."
The bedroom door began to open, and the two immediately separated. Mallory stared at the coffee pot while her face was beet red, Alex opened the fridge door to pretend as if he was looking for something.
George didn't say anything as he went into the bathroom for twenty minutes. When he exited, he had scissors in his hands and his hair was much shorter than before. Mallory gasped as she began inspecting the split ends he had created.
"George—"
"I promise, I will clean up all of the hair on the bathroom floor," he quickly spoke over her, but turned side to side to show off his new haircut. "But, what do you think? Not bad, huh?"
"You look like an idiot."
Mallory turned and smacked Alex in the side of his head. "Hey, be nice. It looks good, George."
From beside her, Alex tried to hold back his laughter. "And now you're lying to him."
The O'Malley man narrowed his eyes in his direction as he got cereal from the cabinet. Mallory groaned loudly as she announced. "I am not going to tell you again. If the man wants to cut his hair to help him with the issues in his life, let him."
"Yeah, Alex," George replied with a smirk. "Do you have any milk?"
"Now you're asking for a lot—"
"You don't even live here," exclaimed George, crossing his arms against his chest. "Why are you even here?"
Alex looked ready to punch him at any moment, only thinking of how easy it would be to take him down in seconds. But, he turned his focus to Mallory as he let out a deep breath, gesturing for her to control her friend.
