A little over a week after Mallory Shepherd had her son, she brought him into the hospital for his first check-up. Before she left to go back home, she brought Carter into the residents' lounge, where Callie Torres and Arizona Robbins joined her and Alex Karev, eager to get time with their new godson.

The surgical scalpel is made of sterilized, carbonized stainless steel.

This is a vast improvement over the first scalpel, which was pretty much a sharp stick.

Callie had Carter in her arms, cooing at him as she gushed. "Oh, my God. He just warms every inch of my heart. It makes me want one of my own."

"You know, I'm starting to see a lot of Alex in him," Arizona added, casually changing the subject with an awkward smile. "I bet if you found some of your baby pictures, he'd look like your twin."

"That's what Nancy said," Alex replied with a nod. "She went and found some of Mallory's baby pictures, and he doesn't look much like she did."

"I carried you for nine months just for you to look like your dad," Mallory told her baby with a playful shake of her head. "He's gonna be Alex's mini-me. I can tell."

All Callie could do was chuckle as she insisted. "That means you're gonna have to have more. Then, you'll get your own mini-me."

"Do not mention the word more to me for another year, thank you," Mallory was quick to object. "Carter is more than enough for me at the moment. My heart doesn't need to be any fuller."

When Callie passed Carter off to Alex, he couldn't help but tense slightly as he took him. He kept his shoulders tensed as he rocked his son back and forth, which Arizona immediately noticed, making her raise a brow.

"Every time I hold him, he goes to sleep," Alex explained with a shake of his head, impressed every time that it happened. "It's like I got the magic touch or something."

"You know, I'm surprised," Arizona countered as she continued to observe. "Especially with how tense you are."

"He's really small, okay?" Alex defended himself instantly. "I don't want to do anything to hurt him. Or drop him. It just makes me more nervous the more I think about it."

"Come on," Arizona still didn't look convinced. "You assist me with babies for a living."

Alex shrugged his shoulders in response as he made an excuse. "There's a lot less pressure when the baby's not yours. You should've told me that."
