T - Tears

Jacob pulled up to Connie and Sam's and walked up her path. He knocked on the door but didn't get an answer, even though he knew she was in.
"Connie open the door" he said through the letter box but he knew it was no use.
Jacob sighed then lifted up her plant pot and pulled out a front door key and unlocked the door.
"I'm coming in" he said as he opened it.
"Connie?" He asked softly as he walked into her living room where she was sat curled up on the couch.

"Leave me alone Jacob" she said through her tears.
"I'm not leaving until you tell me what's wrong" Jacob said as he sat down next to her.
"There's nothing wrong" Connie replied.
"Then why are you crying?" Jacob asked.
"I'm not" Connie responded.
"Connie that's got to be the stupidest thing you've ever said to me, because I know you are" Jacob said.
"Fine I'll tell you! Sam asked me to marry him, but I don't love him, I love someone else but I don't want to hurt Grace in all of this" Connie said.

"Oh Connie, come here" Jacob said then he wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
"I don't know what to do Jacob" Connie cried.
"Do you really think it's right to marry Sam when you don't love him? You say you don't want to hurt Grace by ending it with him but wouldn't it hurt her more too see you so unhappy?" Jacob asked.
"I guess you are right, but she will hate me Jacob" Connie said.
"You don't know that Connie, does she know the other guy?" Jacob said.
Connie nodded, "she thinks he's great" she said with a smile.
"Then how much would it really hurt her?" Jacob said.
"Maybe not as much as I thought" Connie admitted.

"Where are Sam and Grace?" Jacob asked.
"He's taken her to the cinema, I told him I needed time to think" Connie told him.
"Does he want an answer when he gets back? Jacob said.
Connie nodded, "I have to say no don't I?" She asked.
"You have to do what you think is right" Jacob said.
"I'm not marrying him" she said shaking her head.
"Well then all you have to do is tell the other guy how you feel" Jacob said.
Connie shook her head again, "he doesn't feel the same" she told him.
"And how do you know that? Have you asked him" Jacob asked.
"No" Connie said without looking at him.
"Why not?" Jacob asked again.

Connie didn't reply but turned away from Jacob and hugged her legs to her chest.
"Sweetcheeks?" He asked softly.
Connie then whipped round to look at him, "you haven't called me that for months" she said.
"I know, I'm sorry" he said.
"I've missed it, Sam only ever calls me Connie"  she said.
"Well I'm not Sam am I?" He said with a grin.
"No you're not, you are so much better" Connie said before leaning closer to him.
Jacob leant in towards her too and gently wiped the tears from her cheek.
"It's you" she whispered.
"Huh?" Jacob asked.

"I'm in love with you Jacob" she said softly.
Jacob lifted her chin so she was looking right after him.
"Then you were so wrong Connie, because I do feel the same" he told her before gently kissing her lips.
His tongue swept along her lips which she opened allowing him to enter.
She wrapped her arms around his neck never wanting to let go as they kissed passionately, oblivious to Sam returning home with Grace.
"Hey Connie, who's here?" Sam asked but stopped when he saw her and Jacob on the couch.
"What the fuck?! Grace go to your room!" He shouted causing them to pull apart and Grace to run upstairs.

Jacob wrapped his arms around Connie's waist protectively as Sam got closer to the couch.
"Sam, I'm sorry" Connie said.
"You're sorry?! I asked you to marry me Connie, I love you and then an hour later you're on top of him!" Sam shouted.
"But I don't love you, I love Jacob more than you could ever know" Connie said.
"Fuck you, you whore! And you, get your fucking hands off my girlfriend" Sam shouted at Jacob.
"Should I go?" Jacob asked her reluctantly.
Connie shook her head frantically, "take me with you Jacob, I'm not safe" she whispered.

"Sam I'm leaving and Connie's coming with me weather you like it or not" Jacob told him.
"What you are just going to leave?! What's Grace going to say, she's going to hate you Connie" Sam said.
"I don't hate mummy, I want to go with her" Grace said timidly from behind them.
"I told you to go to your room! You're staying with me Grace" Sam shouted.
"No daddy I'm not, I'm sorry, I love you but I want to be with mummy, please" Grace said as she started to cry.
Sam hated to see his daughter like that and he knew that she would resent him if he didn't let her go, "fine, pack your stuff and leave" he said reluctantly.

Grace nodded then ran upstairs, followed by Jacob and Connie leaving Sam in the lounge.
Connie was packing a bag full of her stuff whilst Jacob was helping Grace when they heard a loud thud and a shout from downstairs.
Connie grabbed the bag and ran across the landing to Grace's room.
"Come on we need to go" she said.
"Is daddy getting angry again?" Grace asked, she was scared of Sam when he was angry.
"I'm sure he's fine sweetheart, but let's go out of the back" Connie said then she grabbed Grace's hand whilst Jacob grabbed her bag.

They quickly left Sam's house through the back door then went out to Jacob's car.
Grace strapped herself into the back whilst Connie and Jacob climbed into the front.
"Grace, are you ok? Do you understand what's going on?" Connie asked as she lent backwards and squeezed Grace's hand.
"Yes mummy, you and Jacob aren't going to fight are you? He's not going to hurt us is he?" Grace asked.
"No Grace I'm not, I promise! I love you and your mum so much" Jacob said.
"Thank you Jacob, I love you too" Grace said.
"Let's go home" Jacob said then he lent over to Connie and kissed her lips gently.
"I love you Jacob" she said softly.
"I love you too sweetcheeks" Jacob replied before turning on the engine.
