Connie walked into cubicals and closed the curtain behind her.
"Mrs Jackson?" she said as she checked her patients notes.
"Yes that's me" the woman on the bed replied, "but please call me Victoria" she added.
"Ok, well Victoria your scans are clear, there's no glass broken inside the wound so I'll remove this piece" Connie said as she put on some gloves.
"How did this happen?" she asked as she began cleaning the wound.
"Silly really, I tripped over my own suitcase and fell into some glass. I was supposed to be suprising my son for his birthday, he doesn't even know I'm here" she replied.
"We can call him for you if you like?" Connie suggested.
"I wouldn't like to worry him, just patch me up and I'll be on my way" Victoria said with a smile.
"Oh, what does he do?" Connie asked her.
"He's a nurse, at St James' last time I checked which is why I didn't go there" Victoria told her.
Connie nodded and continued fixing her wound."Have you got any children Mrs Beauchamp?" She asked.
Connie laughed a little, "oh yes, a very excitable ten year old, three months pregnant with another, and a thirty five year old fiance that acts like a three year old half the time. In fact it's also his birthday today" she replied.
"Oh, isn't that a coincidence" Victoria laughed.
Connie smiled and looked over as the curtain was pulled back, "Cal said you... Needed a nurse" Jacob trailed off as he looked between Connie and Victoria.
"Jacob?" Victoria said.
"Mum... What are you doing here?" Jacob asked.
"Mum?!" Connie said in shock.
"Yes, Mrs Beauchamp, this is my mum" he told her."Mrs Beauchamp?! You're Mrs Beauchamp'ing me infront of your mother?! Well let me clear things up for you Victoria, it seems your son is too ashamed of his fiancé and future children to actually mention them to you at all! Get out staff nurse masters, you shouldn't be treating relatives anyway" Connie said angrily.
"Con please don't be like that" Jacob begged.
"OUT!" She shouted.
Jacob sighed and retreated out of the cubical leaving Connie feeling extremely embarrassed. She turned to pick up the suture kit when Victoria grabbed her hand, "it's not you he's ashamed of dear, it's me. I came to suprise him for his birthday because we haven't spoken in four years. My last name is Jackson, because I had an affair with his dad's best friend, whom I then married. Jacob blames me for his dad's death, although I can see why. David, his dad, he found out about the affair, next day he was dead, massive heart attack. Doctors said it could of been brought on by stress which we all knew wasn't good for him with his heart condition. So seemingly, it was my fault. Jacob didn't tell me about you because he doesn't think I deserve to know, not because you've done anything wrong" she explained.
"And I've just shouted at him like that..." Connie sighed.
"Go to him, I'll wait" Victoria said.
"I can't do that, I have to do my job" she replied then continued fixing her arm.
"I'd understand if this was a lot to ask, but he's my son and I really do love him. Honestly I'm unsure why I really came here because I expected him to turn me away but I thought it was time to atleast try to make it right. But would you be able to talk to him? I want my son back, and I want the chance to be able to meet my grandchild. For that I need his forgiveness, which I know would be a lot to ask for but please, would you try to convince him to give me a chance?" Victoria said.Connie sighed, "I'll talk to him, but I'm not making any promises. He's my fiancé and he's where my loyalties lie, and if he says no then I won't try to change his mind too much, but I will try because I want my child to have atleast one grandparent" she said.
"Thank you Connie, I really mean that" she replied with a warm smile.
Connie nodded, "your arm is all patched up. I'll talk to Jacob then be back with your discharge papers" she told her before leaving the cubical. This is a two parter, will update soon x
